Nicole Morgan is an author of erotic romance novels, which more often than not have a suspenseful back story. Erotic romance mixed with good old-fashioned whodunit. While she's written everything from contemporary to paranormal her leading men will more than likely be wearing a uniform of some kind. From military to police officers, she has a love for writing about those who protect and serve. From her very first novel about Navy SEALs to her more recent releases, you will be sure to find a few twists and turns you were not expecting.

She is a proud member of the Romance Books 4 Us Gold Authors and also one of the Sweet N Sexy Divas.

Autumn Glory

Even in north Texas autumn is slowly rolling in. I welcome back my favorite season with delight—the cool air, changing leaves, and rich hearty meals. Mugs of hot chocolate replace coffee and hearty soups replace salads. My eyes stray to the leaf-bejeweled trees—ruby, amber, and gold glow in late afternoon sunlight as I drive the country roads near home.

This time of year is conducive to introspection, when we can honor the seasons, reap the harvest of life’s lessons, and be thankful for all the good things in our lives. It's a time to go within and focus on hearth and home, preparing for the bitter cold winter that may lie ahead. Meditative reflection alerts us to the gems we’ve gleaned, and our gratitude increases for all the people and experiences that have crossed our paths. There is some sadness as well, as 2016 has impacted many neighbors, friends and loved ones harshly.

Two years ago, I wrote a novella called Autumn Masquerade as a tribute to this rich season. Anna Spencer is a corporate executive with otherworldly gifts she tries to hide because she thinks people won’t take her seriously if they know she speaks with dead people. Richard Bentley, her boss, lost his wife two years ago and has been a hermit since then. Anna’s feelings for her lonely boss have been growing, but now she’s agreed to be the psychic at an autumn masquerade to help her friend out. The only problem is that Richard will be there, and the ghost of his deceased wife has matchmaking on her mind. This sweet story is available only on Amazon and is $0.99 through the end of the year. http://a.co/iOiW5c0

I’m so thankful during this past twelve months to have joined up with many wonderful authors in six anthologies and series. My muse went on strike in mid-2014 and didn’t return until mid-2015. I lured her back with novelettes for anthologies, and she jumped at the bait. Now we are in the flow again.

So for writers who are going through a dry period, take heart and try something new. Maybe a short story, novelette, or group undertaking will jump start your creative flow.

Entice Me – RB4U 2015 Anthology – my story is Riviera Rendezvous

Exquisite Christmas – Exquisite Quills 2015 Holiday Anthology – my stories are Shooting Star Holiday Express, Tropical Christmas, Midnight Sleigh Ride & Recipe

World Romance Writers – 2016 Letterbox Love Stories Volume I – my story is Abandoned Treasures Thanks to everyone who helped make Letterbox Love Stories Volume I an Amazon bestseller!
A World of Gothic series – My stand alone novella Raven of Blackthorn Manor: Ireland 2016

Roping the Cowboy – RB4U 2016 Anthology – my story is Love, Texas Style

World Romance Writers 2016 Holiday Anthology – Holiday Magic – my story is To Kiss A Prince (coming in November)

To all the delightful author friends and readers in my life, thank you.

What to Charge for Anthologies or Boxed Sets? by Marianne Stephens

Boxed Sets/Anthologies seem to be popular with readers. X number of stories in one book. It's a chance to sample different writing styles, genres, and find new authors.

But...how much should authors charge for it?

While $.99 has been a hit with readers, are authors devaluing their works/talent? Difficult decision to make.

Yes, readers love this price. It's great for new/little\known authors to find buyers. But what about authors with followers? Authors who've been on best selling lists?

I'm torn trying to figure this out. I've been in two anthology groups. One pubs 4 times a year. The other, so far, only once a year. This group received 3rd place in the P&E anthology poll rating. Both groups charged $.99.

I'll soon be in another group with a new boxed set. We're looking at pricing. Lots of best selling authors. What should we do?

As an author, what do you think about selling a boxed set/anthology for $.99?
As a reader, is that the limit you set for yourself in buying a boxed set/anthology? Does it matter what authors have stories?

I'm like to hear your comments!

Leaving 2015 behind...

This past year was as many years before, a year of change and possibilities, a year of growth and a year of just plowing through the tough times because I believed it had to get better. I’m old enough to know that I shouldn’t tempt fate by asking how much worse it could have been because every time I do that the universe reminds me that it has a sense of humor and that’s not always a good thing.

I don’t usually make New Year’s resolutions because I know myself well enough to know that if I somehow didn’t accomplish them all, I would feel guilty. Who needs that much negativity?

After giving it some thought though, I realized that for some reason I’ve always felt as if whatever I’ve done “wrong” one year should be the focus of getting right the next. This year, that doesn’t make as much sense as it has in the past. I don’t want to drag the negative energy that came with all of last year’s baggage into 2016. Maybe this can be the year I simply close the door and start fresh.

This is a year of possibilities. Self-publishing is something new that I want to try. I already have one project in the works and am researching formatting and distribution options to use as a test. Work is only one part of my life though. This year, I plan to drink the wine and eat the chocolate, enjoy life and loved ones and not stress over whatever situation tries to test my sanity.

I’ve lived in jeans and sweatshirts and tennis shoes for most of my adult life. I don’t plan on ditching them anytime soon but I found a copy of an old book with patterns for what are charmingly called “Peasant Chic”. Oh, shades of my hippie days. Stay tuned, I may even take a selfie wearing some of the lovely turquoise jewelry my husband has given me over the years that I usually save for special occasions.

Make every day is a special occasion. That’s my motto for the coming year and my wish for you.

Until next month,
Happy Reading!
