New Years Gratitude with @AuthorNicMorgan #HappyNewYear #RB4U

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It's 2019! Can you believe it? It snuck up on me so quick! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season that was filled with love, laughs and many great memories.

As we venture into another year I can't help but look back on all I've accomplished in 2018. I know resolutions are the usual thing to discuss once the new year greets us, but I like to think about something that I'm grateful for in this past year. Whether that be an accomplishment, a moment, or even a small step in the right direction.

So here's mine...

In 2018 I made some huge career changes, which were for the better, and I wouldn't change it no matter how much hard work it took. But, more than any of that, I am thankful for my family. I have two amazing daughters and a family that I love. There is nothing more important in the world (to me) than that.

How about you? What is your grateful for?

Thank You for joining me today! I'll see you all next month on the 1st. Have a great month and remember to check out Romance Books 4 Us for some awesome reads!

[Siren Classic: Erotic Contemporary Romance, HEA]
After years of abuse at the hands of her ex-husband, Sandra Jameson flees in search of a new identity. Wandering across the country, she happens upon a small coastal town of Grand Isle, Maine. The quaint little city is exactly what she has been looking for and Sandra, now going by the name of Patreece Warren, sets down roots to begin her new life.
Kade Riley grew up in Grand Isle and has a reputation of being a bit of a ladies’ man. As the local handyman, he is called on by many for various projects. When the new woman in town catches Kade’s eye, he comes to her rescue with his tool box in hand.
Patreece slowly lowers the protective walls she’s built around herself. While the days tick by, their attraction for one another grows until that spark ignites into a flame.
Now, the only thing standing in the way of their future is her past.

STORY EXCERPT

After saying good-bye to both her and Janis, who were heading out to set some things up at the park, Patreece made her way over to join the sweet little girl and the man Rachael called her uncle. Yesterday, Patreece had felt uneasy about being around Kade. Seeing the gentle way he behaved with Rachael made him seem just a little less scary.
“Wow. Those pancakes look really good.”
“Wait until you taste them. They’re so good,” Rachael answered with a mouth full of food.
“Good enough to wear, huh?” she teased as she sat down next to Rachael.
“Oh, ha-ha. You wanna change seats and sit across from the little monster who cannot remember to close her mouth while she chews?” Kade asked.
“Oh no. That’s quite all right. I think I’ll stay right here next to my new friend. Besides, I want to have a good seat for story time.”
“Yeah! Story time!” Rachael bounced in her seat.
Kade wiped his mouth with a napkin and then set it in his lap. “You had to remind her, didn’t you?”
“Come on, Uncle Kade. Tell one of your stories,” Rachael begged him.
“Well, I probably would have, but I can’t now.”
“Why not?” she asked him with a pouty face.
“Because someone was a little monster and ate up all of her bear before I was able to tell it.” Kade reached across the table and tickled under her arms.
Rachael wiggled in her seat and laughed hysterically.
Patreece sat there watching them. It was sweet seeing this massive man turn into putty with this little girl. There was a genuine love there and it made her wonder if Kade had children of his own. He definitely seemed as if he’d be a good father. Not at all like her ex-husband.
As soon as the thought of her ex entered her mind, she quickly pushed it aside, tucking the memories into a far corner of her brain in hopes they’d never show themselves again. She hated how easily she could be distracted by recollections of her past. Her only hope was that in time, those scars would eventually start to fade away and allow her the opportunity to breathe without the constant worry.
“So you like the pancakes?” Kade asked.
“Mmm… They’re very good. I’m sorry. I should have said something sooner. Thank you so much for making them.”
“No problem. I was going back there anyway.”
Patreece was intrigued by the almost bashful way he deflected her gratitude. Yesterday he had struck her as the type of man who was incredibly charming, one who no doubt received loads of compliments and could handle them easily. He surprised her by acting the complete opposite. Was there more to this Superman contractor than met the eye?
Like her, did he have hidden layers? Characteristics that she’d find out once she dug a little deeper and got to know him a little better? She was still getting used to people calling her Patreece. This new identity of hers was proving to be a challenge, one for which she wasn’t entirely prepared. Earlier, when Janis had been introducing Patreece to some friends, she heard someone call out for Sandra. On instinct, she had turned around. Luckily, Janis hadn’t caught on to Patreece’s slip—not that the agent would have noticed it as one. Still, the lapse in judgment irked her. She needed to be more careful from there on out or she would start raising suspicion, and that was the last thing she wanted or needed.
She took a bite of pancake and noticed Kade watching her. He may seem harmless on the surface, but his vibrant blue eyes that pierced her reminded her that looks could be deceiving. He may have only been joking with Rachael. But now she saw something in them that unsettled her. Those weren’t the eyes of a loving uncle. Those were the eyes of a man.
She swallowed her pancake past the knotted ball of nerves that had seemed to lodge in her throat. She needed to slow down. Just twenty-four hours ago she’d set foot in Grand Isle, and already she owned a home and had made friends with just about everyone within shouting distance. Now the charming and seemingly harmless contractor was leering at her with a look that didn’t just warn of an attraction, it downright promised it.
Abruptly, she set down her fork and stood from the table. “I’m sorry. I just realized I left some clothes in the washer. I need to go. I’ll see you all later. Good-bye, Rachael. It was very nice meeting you, sweetie.”
Patreece didn’t wait for either of them to respond. She all but ran from the café and got into her car. The way her adrenaline was pumping, she wished she would have walked to the restaurant. If she needed to walk home, maybe she could run off some of her fear.
The few-minute drive to her home seemed to take forever. The roads seemed longer, narrower and almost seemed to drift off into the distance as she tried to navigate while taking shallow, rapid breaths. She was having a panic attack again. It had been months since she’d had one back in Beverly Hills.
She was thankful she’d had the forethought to go to her pharmacy and get a three-month supply of Xanax shortly before she’d left. With high hopes, she’d had no intention of needing it. She’d told herself she was stronger and wouldn’t need it. She had even hoped the day would eventually come when she could throw them away and no longer be dependent on medicine to help her fight her fears. If this morning had taught her anything, though, it was that she had a long way to go before she was whole again. A long way to go before she felt free to breathe again.
A very long way.

That's all for me this months, guys and gals.
I'll see you here next month,

Same bat time...Same bat channel.

Turning I Can't Into I Can by Janice Seagraves

Turn I Can't Into I Can
By Janice Seagraves

I used to work for a retired couple. The woman surprised me one day by telling me that she was an artist. When they moved into their current house, she thought she would have a room to paint in. However, her husband took the only spare room as his den.

She actually thought she couldn't paint until she got a room to work in.

I thought that was odd. I paint, draw, and do crafts. All I need is the end of the dinning table, a bit of space on the coffee table, or when my back was still good, I’d work on the floor.

As for my writing, I have a desk shoved into the corner near the dinning table where I work. A corner is all I need for my office.

Speaking of writing.  Some people can’t write without the computer, which is fine. But I know a few individuals who prefer using a pad to write on. They enjoy the textural feel of the pencil or pen in their hand, and the scratch sound as the nip goes along the paper. They take their pad everywhere, and it tucks in very neatly into a purse or pocket. And then at the end of the day, they transfer their writing to the computer.

The same can be said for people and their laptops. They are very portable. They take them everywhere. And not just to the coffee shop. One woman who has kids underfoot all day long, takes her laptop all over the house. When she’s cooking, her laptop is on the kitchen counter. If she’s ironing, her laptop is like a faithful companion sitting nearby, on a table or chair. When she’s in the living room with her husband and kids, the laptop is on her lap. She gets a great deal of writing done.

These people have turned the I can’t into I can.

New Year

Well I totally forgot today was my day to blog. Sorry about that. I’ve had a lot of things going on in my life. Some I can talk about, others I can’t.
I’m working on two different stories both with tight deadlines – 2/1. I don’t have any new releases coming anytime in the near future, but if you’re in still in the Christmas mood I do have a book that came out on December 6th over at Aspen Mountain Press, called Naughty St. Nick
Here’s a little taste!

Excerpt:
Emily pattered over to the front door. She peered through the peephole and opened
the door against the bitter cold of the winter storm brewing outside. Shivering, she bent
over the threshold and glanced in both directions. Her skin pebbled from the
snowflakes landing on her bare arms.
“Strange, I know I heard the doorbell ring.” She was about to close the door when
she noticed a small brown box sitting off to the right.
Intrigued, she placed a sock-covered foot into the icy snow and retrieved the box.
She slammed the door and hurried back to her blanket on the couch. She nestled under
the red fuzzy blanket. Turning the box in her hands she looked for an addressee.
“Nothing.” She couldn’t help but wonder if it was meant for her or if someone left it
on her doorstep mistakenly. She shook the box. Something bounced around inside.
Unable to fight her curiosity, she tore open the package. Inside was a mistletoecolored
finger butt plug with little white snowmen on it. Tingling sensations warmed
her body straight down to her core. Heat charged through her body, as thoughts of
teasing the rim of her ass filled her mind.
Wouldn’t it be nice if I had someone doing it for me?
Digging deeper into the box, she searched for a card. She found a tiny note card that
read:
On the first day of Christmas my true love gave me to, one butt plug a hummin’.
Emily thought she’d orgasm right then and there. Who wanted to charge her ass to
life? Tremors radiated her muscles, curling her toes. Someone wanted to do naughty
things to her. Filled with an arousal that ran deep, Emily knew she had to pleasure
herself.
Heat from the flames crackling in the fireplace warmed her chilled body, smoothing
her skin. The television blared in the background, but Emily tuned out the noise. She’d
been watching a movie about a money heist on a train or something crazy, that hadn’t
held her attention. As she turned the plug over in her hands, her attention was totally
focused. She couldn’t imagine who would send her something so erotic.
Settling into the pillow, she closed her eyes and pictured the guy from Six A as the
bearer of her gift. His wavy blond hair and piercing green eyes charged her body. She’d
fantasized about him a few times.
Oh, who am I kidding?
She'd masturbated to the image of his shit-eating grin too many times to count.

Until next month!

In with the new, out with the old.

Another year's behind us and a new one stretches out in infinite possibility before us. I don't believe in resolutions, so I'm not going to talk about those.
2010 was a pretty damn good year, personally and professionally. On the home front, I celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary, my youngest finished high school and turned 18, so I no longer have minors in the house, AND I have a great office corner in our new family room.
On a professional level, I sold my 40th manuscript (and several others). I finaled in both the EPIC awards (Yuletide Enchantment for best fantasy erotic romance) and the CAPA awards (favorite erotic romance author, Motor City Fae for best paranormal romance, and Awakening Augusta for best historical erotic romance.) Stay tuned in 2011 for results on those.

Incidentally, Eagle's Redemption is up for best western romance of 2010 at Siren Book Reviews, so if you'd like to vote on that, here's the link. They have prizes for random voters.
I was a launch author for Carina Press, and I signed with an agent. Altogether, not bad at all.
So where to go from here in 2011? I've never been one to make resolutions, but that doesn't mean I don't have goals. Of course, I'm hoping to continue the weight loss, maybe boosted by getting back to the pool on a regular basis. I'm hoping both my boys will do okay in their college careers (and maybe get jobs).
I'd really like to sell a book to a mainstream print publisher. And no, winning one of those awards wouldn't break my heart, though I'm certainly not going to hold my breath.
So what else is on my list for 2011? Well, I have four books scheduled so far: 3 with Carina Press and one with Ellora's Cave. I'm attending my first Science Fiction conference this month, and hopefully a Steampunk one in the spring, both here in the Detroit area. I have a couple of library events scheduled, which should also be fun.
I'd like to write at least one book outside my usual comfort level--though I'm not sure exactly what.
And now that the kids are older, I'd like to do more fun stuff with my husband, maybe even travel a little.

Mostly it's the same thing I always aim for: to enjoy every day to the best of my ability. Life's short. Laugh whenever you can.
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, and productive 2010.

Goals for the New Year

Do you make goals for the New Year, and never accomplish them? I'm one of those people who make so many goals that it would never be possible to do all of them. Grin!

The ones I do accomplish are fine, but I'm always disappointed because I didn't get all of them done. So this year, I decided to set my goals lower, and then I thought if I do that I might not finish anything. Just maybe setting so many goals makes me accomplish more. What do you think about that?

Goals for 2011:

Read more books ( I only read 4 or 5 books the whole year of 2010)
Spend more time with family
Revise two older books that never published but are really good.
Spend less time on social media forms (started in 2010)
Take care of my health
Do the required promotions for my publisher, Eirelander Publishing
Play more instead of work all the time (Especially, get off the computer)
Try to get a short story published

The first book in The Odyssey Mysteries, The Catalyst, will be re-released in January from Eirelander Publishing.

That's all for now, but I'm sure I'll think of more before New Year's Eve. Grin.

I wish all of you a Happy, healthy New Year. Stop and smell the roses, my friends.

Celtic New Year

Happy Holidays everyone. I hope you all have a Happy New Year. I write Celtic romances and the New Year celebration, called Samhain, was as important to the ancient Celts as New Years is to us. Even more so as the long cold days of winter were dangerous to ancient man and the Samhain rituals helped keep them in the gods and goddesses’ favor, increasing the tribe’s chance of survival. Here’s a New Year excerpt from my brand new release a Paranormal/ Erotica/ Romance The Wolf and The Druidess

Excerpt:
“Yes, Druidess. It is the best new year celebration ever.” The young woman’s freckled face beamed.
“It is, isn’t it?” Seren sighed as she envisioned sitting with the ghost of her mother and sharing the feast. “Will you gather treats for me, I am off to visit my mam’scairn for Samhain?“ Her throat tightened. Seren’s father had died in battle with the Silures, when she was young, leaving her mother to care for her.
Today, ten months after her mother’s death, she would sup with, talk to, and spend time with her again.
“We have oat cakes, druidess and fresh, juicy apples.” A maiden with long nut-brown hair handed her a wicker basket.
Seren peeked inside at the shiny red apples, crispy oat cakes, plump black pudding links, fat turnips, wild carrots, and handfuls of roasted hazelnuts.
“Druidess, tell me, do you have someone special to couple with around the bonfire this night?”
“No, I need to bring this fare to my mother.” Seren shrugged. She would like to share this night with a handsome man, but as the druidess her days were full with serving the tribe. With little time to kindle a romance, she longed for love, but mayhap it was not meant to be. “What of you?”
“Yes, I will spend the eve with Hywell. He and I shall hand-fast soon.”
“Blessings upon you. He is a good man, a brave warrior.” Seren pulled the white hood of her druid robe over her head. “I need to hasten to my mother’s cairn. Happy Samhain to you.”
“And you, Druidess, as well.” The young woman’s mouth curled up into a bright smile. “Here, for your trek into the dark woods.”
Seren took the lit torch from the freckle-faced maiden. With the basket looped through her arm and a firebrand in hand, she set out for the forest.

And here’s a Samhain or New Year excerpt from my Celtic/Paranormal/Romance, Druid Bride:

Excerpt:
As a yearly tribute to the dead, the New Year’s feast insured the gods saw the tribe through the hard winter. It had to be perfect, and it fell on her shoulders. Not to mention, she’d never put on a Samhain feast alone. Sulwen and Rhys always did it, and she merely helped. She began to relax, taking deep breaths as she strolled to the pasture where the cattle grazed. Tanwen walked through the herd and selected the cows to slaughter for the fire festival.
Then, she headed to the chief’s wheelhouse. “Good morning, Ciniatha. Have you chosen the nine maidens to cook the feast?”
“Yes, we just came from the garden. Come see.”
Though too busy to take the time to squeeze and smell the fruits and vegetables, Tanwen deemed they looked ripe. The bright, red apples appeared sweet and juicy, and the oblong, yellowish, purple-capped turnips were fat and sure to be crisp and filling.
Tanwen’s nose wiggled at the strong smell of the long, green leeks. “You’ve done well. I can tell this is the best of the harvest.”
“And taste this.” Ciniatha held out a spoon of yellow butter.
Tanwen glanced to the corner where two maidens pumped wooden churns. She dipped her finger into the spoon of butter and popped it into her mouth. So creamy and sweet. Rich. “It is good enough for the gods.” After licking her finger, she ran her tongue over her lips to get every dab. “Delicious.”
As she inhaled the mellow scent of fresh baked bread, she imagined the taste of a soft, warm slice with the soft butter. She had to leave before she started eating the food intended for the feast.
“I see all is well here.” She smiled at the chief’s wife. “There will be plenty of bread for the visiting spirits.” Tanwen turned to leave.
Ciniatha called after her. “Did you see Brude today?”
“Yes, he’s hunting boar for the feast. Now that we have caught each other, we have no time to spend together. There are feasts and battles, but after Samhain, there should be more time for us.”
“You have much to do. You are a druid. And rest assured, I have the fare for the feast well in hand.” She flashed a sweet smile at Tanwen. “Calach and I welcome you into the family. My son is making a wise choice.”
“My thanks.” She reached out and hugged Ciniatha, though Brude was still on her mind. Did he still feel that way? He seemed so disappointed about the hunt. She released her mother–to-be by marriage, smiled, then turned and continued the many tasks she’d set aside for that day.
After she ate the evening meal that Huctia brewed over the central fire of her wheelhouse, Tanwen laid on her pallet. Exhausted, she fell into a heavy sleep.

Of course us modern day folk like to party at New Year’s Eve too. So here’s a partying excerpt from The Wolf and the Druidess as the ancient Celts bring in their New Year.
Excerpt:
After the nine warriors had made many a trek up the hill, a bonfire towered before Seren. Chief Neithon handed her a firebrand to light it. The bard of the tribe came forward with harp in hand and strummed a lilting tune as the fire roared in a bright blaze.

Seren raised her hands high, twirling and chanting. “Fire sparks, veil parts, ancestors come near, feast, dance, sing with us here. Great powers abound. Circle comes round. All hail Samhain.”
The roar of the blaze, the cheering crowd, and the magic of Samhain rushed through her like an inferno. Seren slipped off her white gold-speckled robe, which had been woven by her mother and was the last gift from her before she died. Seren longed to see her once more. She tossed the garment to one of the women
to hold for her.
One of the nine maidens, Elund, beat the goatskin drum in a savage rhythm. Seren’s skin felt as hot as the fire as she moved in a swaying motion. Needing to bare her body for the gods, she danced to, she untied her hemp belt and her plaid skirt dropped to the dirt. She yanked her red tunic off and threw it down. The haunting twitter of the pipes and the ethereal tone of the harp joined the bodhran in the jubilant song of Samhain.

I wish each of you a happy and prosperous New Year.

Happy New Year,

Cornelia Amiri
