Random Questions #melissa_keir #RB4U

Random Questions

Hello and welcome back to another engaging post where I share the strange and often silly things going on in my mind. This month, I want to talk about Surveys and Questions.

If you have been a friend of mine on Facebook, you might have noticed that I've been asking some random questions. For example, I've wondered what my friends' favorite coffee is or what their favorite season is. I've also inquired about their perfect temperature and favorite pie. All of these seem like silly questions and have prompted some people to ask me if I'm secretly working for a marketing research group or if I'm gathering data to use against them.

The short answer is no. In fact, I often delete these questions a few days or a week after it's asked. So if I'm not working secretly for the government, why am I asking such random questions?

One reason is that I enjoy talking to people and finding out what they like and don't like. My friends are very caring and like to share their thoughts with me. We've shared recipes and promotion ideas. We've even talked about our husbands, children and siblings. By sharing information, we become closer.

The second reason builds upon my previous one--becoming closer. Often we feel we are the only one who had experienced something--a debilitating fear, a spider crawling across us in bed, or a struggle to lose those extra pounds. We are so hard on ourselves but very supportive of others. When we share about ourselves, we learn we aren't the only ones. We receive support from other people and we in turn become closer--maybe even letting go of those fears or easing the struggles. And isn't that a wonderful thing in a global world? I see strangers as more alike than different and more caring than mean.

Finally, the last reason is it increases my own visibility on Facebook. Vicki has her handbags and Jennifer has her recipes. Other friends have their amazing hair styles or fun, exciting jobs and hobbies. But what do I have? What will make people visit with me?

Oh. I'm caring and kind. I love to watch and review movies. And I always believe in a happy ending (even if I have to write my own!). But I'm not unique in those things. But through my questions, I can bring others to me and my page where they can find Vicki's handbags, Jennifer's recipes and most importantly-- all my friends (and my own) books.

So if you are looking for a fun place where other people stop by and chat about silly things like hometowns, nicknames, or even favorite colors....be sure to friend me on Facebook and stop by once in a while!

Psst... I also do have a wonderful story about dreams coming true. Check out Redeeming Dreams in the box set, Cowboy Ever After. Only $0.99 on Amazon or free with Kindle Unlimited.

Thank you and until next time....

Sincerely yours,

Been There... Done That....Cold December Mornings....#RB4U #FoodPorn

Cold December Mornings...

Hello and welcome back to Melissa's Musings. Each ninth day of the month, I drop by to share my thoughts, wonderings, happenings, and life. Lucky you! You're in for a treat today!

If your family is like mine, mornings are not our favorite time of the day. Youngest child--who is now an adult working as an electrician is up and in the shower by 6:00, I'm doing my hair for work or phoning in my movie review to the local radio station by 6:30. At this time of year in Michigan, it's dark...and cold!
It's hard to think about food, let alone have time for yummy meal. Forget cereal... too messy and you have to sit down and eat it. The breakfast bars are okay if you like cardboard. They also leave me hungry about 10 am. Stopping at the local hamburger joint is fine but expensive. With the holidays, I don't have a dollar to spare!

I cut my time down to the second so that I can sleep just those few extra minutes. Beauty sleep is important. I didn't get this way on Botox alone! *wink*

So been there, done that... I've tried to make up breakfast meals ahead of time. They didn't turn out so good. Think messy and boring. But you will receive my special secret recipe today.... just because I love you, all!

I make egg muffins. They are super easy and I make them on Sundays, stuff them in a Ziploc baggie and with a quick pop in the microwave (1-2 min) they are ready to go. You can even make them into a sandwich if you want to give up an extra minute of your rest.

Egg Muffins
6-9 eggs
1/8-1/4 cup milk
Muffin pan
Cooking spray

Extras:
Cheese
Onions (green or sweet)
Bacon
Sausage
Ham pieces cubed
Mushrooms
And anything else you can imagine!

Preheat the oven to 350*. Spray the muffin tin with cooking spray (don't be a Grinch with it...make sure it's coated in the muffin spaces so the eggs come out.)
In a separate bowl, combine the eggs and mild. Wisk.
In the muffin tins, load up your extras. Go all out! Be creative!
Pour the milk/egg mixture over the extras in the muffin cups. Place in the oven and cook at 350* until firm and lightly browned (about 15 minutes or so).
Remove from oven and let cool. You can eat them when warm or place them into plastic baggies for future mornings.

Now you have a yummy treat that won't waste your precious sleep time. In addition, these are wonderful things to make ahead for the holidays. You can wake up and warm up these on Christmas morning while the children are opening presents or serve them on New Years Eve, before your party guests go home.
Aren't you glad you got to learn from my own trial and error? If you make them, I'd love to hear what you put in them. My favorite is green onions, mushrooms, bacon, ham and cheese.

Now for a treat of a different sort... Yummy Cowboys!

EXCERPT FROM CLAIMING A COWBOY'S HEART:
The horse’s tail rose. A small leg became visible as the birth began. Holding his breath, he waited and watched.

With his gaze on the eminent arrival, he frowned. “Crap. That’s an upside down hoof.”

His friend drew in close. A second leg arrived. “Shit. The foal’s backward. Those are the rear legs.”

“We have to get the foal out now. If we don’t, it’ll drown.” He knelt next to the horse. “Get up front and soothe Cheyenne. I’m going to have to pull the foal out fast, and I don’t want her thrashing around.” Sweat trickled down his spine. Playing God was not what being a veterinarian was about. Losing an animal—any animal—took a piece of his soul. But to lose a new life…it might leave a permanent scar. I’ve been blessed so far. Would the blessing last?

Glancing to see that his buddy had followed his directions, Preston gritted his teeth and seized a hold of the offspring’s legs with both hands. “Ready, on the count of three…. One, two, three.” He heaved with all his strength, observing as the foal came out. Quickly, he tore open the sac, releasing fluid and giving the foal a chance to breathe. He gnawed on his lip, gaze glued on the foal. Was it alive? Come on. He whispered a silent prayer.

The Barbies and I hit CBS Sunday Morning again

I’m baaccck!

June 23 CBS is rerunning my segment on CBS Sunday Morning. Watch Bill Geist roll his eyeballs when I read to him from Rodeo Heat. And speaking of Rodeo Heat,  I’m running a contest to go along with this. Read the book, post a review, send me the link at desireeholt@desireeholt.com. You’ll be entered in a drawing for a $50 GC, Amazon or B&N. Each review counts as one entry.

Blurb
It could have been the animalistic heat of the rodeo, or the pin with special powers that the old woman had all but forced her to buy. But whatever it was, within seconds of meeting rodeo rider Ben Lovell, Grace Delany safe world crumbled in a voluptuous explosion of lust. Every night was something new. From the handcuffs to the intriguing sex toys to the taking of her virgin ass, , Grace gave in to it all, relishing her body’s. As Ben Lowell led her from one earth-shattering climax to another, as her body softened and opened to him, her juices lubricating the way, all she could do was hang on for dear life and follow his lead. But when it was over, could she really walk away from the man who had taken her on an outrageous journey of sexual self-discovery where there were no limits or boundaries?.

Excerpt
He moved his mouth over her body as if drawing a map with it, tasting every nook and crevice, seeking her pleasure spots and dwelling a long time on them. His open-mouthed kisses on her heated skin sent shafts of electricity through her, igniting nerves already snapping and firing.
His cock pressed against the soft skin of her inner thigh and her hands suddenly itched to touch it and hold it. Pulling Ben’s head up from its drifting path down to her pussy, she smiled at him. “Stop.”
His eyebrows raised. “Stop? Am I doing something wrong? Something you don’t like? Just tell me—”
“No. You’re doing everything just right. But I want to play too.” She pushed at his shoulders.
“And just what is it you want to do?” he asked, his eyes bright with curiosity as he rolled onto his back.
“This.”
Wondering where this spurt of boldness had come from, she shifted onto her knees next to him, her gaze riveted to his erection which pointed directly at her. Tentatively she reached out a finger to touch the bead of fluid sitting like a viscous marble atop the slit. Rubbing it back and forth along the velvet surface, she watched the thick stalk bob under her touch and saw Ben’s thigh muscles tighten.
She hadn’t done this since Joe’s death. The few men she’d had sex with hadn’t appealed to her this way at all. Sometimes she wondered if they really appealed to her in any way. Worried that maybe she just wasn’t a sexual person.
No. Wait. Then she wouldn’t be where she was doing what she was. Right?
Inquisitively, she bent her head and licked the surface of the purple head with the tip of her tongue, swiping it back and forth two or three times, loving the slightly salty taste of the fluid and the sensation of the soft skin against her tongue. Her fingers barely wrapped around the thick length of him but she felt the steel beneath the supple covering. She unclasped him and ran one finger the length of the heavy vein, feeling the blood pulsing through it.
“Am I doing this right?” she asked, her voice tremulous, unable to look at him as she waited for his answer.
“Are you kidding?” Ben asked in a strangled voice, one large hand coming up to squeeze her buttocks. “I think you’re trying to torture me.”
Grace’s laugh held just a hint of uncertainty. “Just finding out what you feel like. How you feel.”
His hand moved in slow strokes on the cheek of her ass. “Surely this isn’t the first one you’ve ever seen or felt,” he joked.
“Believe it or not, the first in bright light. At least for longer than I want to remember.”
Because the others didn’t bear looking at. Except for Ben.
