I found me a man...um...well...I can't KEEP him...

But I would settle for this one...in a heartbeat.

And I normally don't like body hair on a man. My heroes don't even have a wisp of hair on their chests. Just that fine line that slips down below the belt. Now the photog who took this picture knows his body hair. Not too much. Just the right amount. And the perfect body to see it on. Hooray Jeff Palmer! You must be over 18 to view his website.

Why, oh why do all the gorgeous ones seem to be batting for the other team? Sigh.

Now, THIS is the body image I had in mind when I wrote Dictated by Fate. Hot, delicious. Well...maybe not the hair, but the body. Are you ready for a hotter excerpt? If not, close your browser now and recite the Confiteor ten times in quick succession. If you are are ready, here goes:

Excerpt: Dictated by Fate
Copyright 2009 by Fran Lee

He was standing where she always found him. He was looking out over the rooftops toward the black, roiling ocean, with the wind blowing his dark hair across his shadowy face, his body hidden in the mists of her dream. Strange, how she never managed to actually see him. Only feel him. Sense his intensity. He turned to face her as she floated from the door of the stairwell, and the only part of his face she could see were his lips, those sinfully wicked, curving lips that did such heavenly things to her body.

Why couldn’t she see him?

As always, he said nothing. Reaching out to her, he pulled her close with lean, strong hands and took her mouth savagely, needfully, hotly. His tongue was strong, hot, decadently delicious, tasting of delights she desperately wanted to know. There was heat in his kiss. Deep, sizzling heat. Devouring her. Building within her an aching hunger as his mouth and tongue left her faint and desperate for more.

His hands—oh, those marvelous, strong hands. Hands that moved slowly, decadently, torturing every place they moved, making her hot and greedy for more. Hands that cupped her barely covered breasts as he demanded everything.

He was naked. He was always naked. His smooth bronzed skin hot against hers as her own virginal white gown melted beneath his searing touch. She desperately wanted to see all that seductive, sweat-sheathed skin. She could never see his body clearly, and it was so hard and strong, so completely masculine and hot. She could not see his rippling muscles—only feel them as her own hands frantically moved over his chest and shoulders. Her palms caressed the hard nubs of masculine nipples, and when she tried to look at his body, he kissed her again, passionately, hungrily, preventing her from looking her fill.

He smiled down into her face as he held up the black cloth that he invariably wrapped around her eyes, and she shook her head. No! She wanted to see him! And then she was lost once more in the black folds of cloth as he ran his mouth down her body to her navel, his hot tongue swirling over her skin as she clutched his thick dark hair and begged him to finish this time—just once—so that she would know what it felt like. Her body was aflame, her lips trembling as she begged him to take away the cloth so that she could feast her eyes on him.

He laughed softly at her cries, ignoring her breathless need to see. His mouth moved over her trembling lips then tracked lower over her aching throat as she moaned and clung to his shoulders. His fingertips trailed over her aching nipples, to be replaced by his hot, wet mouth suckling, teasing—his tongue swirling seductively around her breast’s puffy tip, his hot breath making the painful tightness of her nipple even more desperately unbearable.

“I want you to—oh, please—touch me! Please, let me see you,” she sobbed as her hands dragged his body closer. Oh, the enthralling feel of his body beneath her fingers—under her aching palms. Her mind swirled in a miasma of unsated passion as he laughed and moved to the other nipple, tugging it deep into his hot mouth as his hands—oh, God! Those wonderful, talented hands—cupped her breasts as he licked, nipped, and nibbled until she wanted to die of the pleasure. Don’t stop! No! Please don’t stop.

He moved downward, his lips and tongue leaving a trail of devastation in their heated wake as he slipped down her body, his hands cupping her ass and lifting her hips to press a wanton kiss above her wet coppery curls. Oh, please! Yes!

He was pressing her thighs apart—seeking, teasing—until she lifted her hips and threw her head back, panting in desperation. She felt his delicious fingertips slip into the wet, swollen cleft between her legs—felt the heat swelling—that hot, sensuous beginning of ravening passion. She felt his long, lean fingers dip and swirl over her clitoris and into her throbbing center, felt the sweet, hot torture of his mouth as he kissed her wet sex, his tongue swirling, dipping—offering paradise! Almost—there—please—oh, please—oh—yeah…

Oh, shit!

The alarm brought her up from her bed with a strangled curse. Damn him! Even in her dreams, Prince Charming was just a frigging tease! She calmed her raging pulses and closed her eyes, falling back onto her damp pillow with a groan.

How many times had she felt him in her dreams? How many times had she so nearly felt the explosion she desperately craved? Oh, yeah, he was a damned tease.

But at least he wasn’t gay.

Coming Tuesday

I love this cover! I love this story. LOL
One day I was listening to a song and these lyrics caught my attention: "I get off on you getting off on me." Addison and Dante instantly appeared in my mind. I knew I had to write their story.
Here is a taste of this story available Tuesday August 17 from Ellora's Cave
Blurb:
Masturbating can be so much fun—especially when you have a one-man audience. Addison loves sex. More importantly, she loves her body and isn’t afraid to make it sing. Add a little voyeurism and it’s totally erotic.

Dante’s muse has stalled—until his sexy neighbor starts seducing him. Through her bedroom window, he watches as her hands caress her tantalizing skin. It’s like something out of a strip club, with his very own personal view. Thanks to this beauty, he’s drawing like wildfire. To thank Addison, Dante sends her an invitation for a single night together. That night may encourages them to draw a new future…together.

Chapter One

Addison removed the clip from her dark mane and tossed it on the dresser. Her unruly hair tumbled around her shoulders. Fingertips massaged her scalp, releasing the day’s tension. Her feet screamed to be set free from the six-inch heels, but she couldn’t—not just yet. She needed to keep them on for a little while longer. For him.
In three long strides she stood in front of the window of her bedroom. A small light was on in his apartment. The moon, a sliver shy of full, illuminated the sky. Another day or two and it would be complete.
Pulling the tails of her crisp white blouse out of her skirt she unbuttoned the sleeves. Her hands moved to the top button and removed it from its hole. Slowly she continued down the shirt until her pink lace bra was fully exposed.
With ease she removed the shirt and threw it on the chair. She tapped her polished fingernail against her lip. What would she do tonight? She smiled a wicked grin. She was feeling bold.
She pictured him sitting there, his fingers wrapped around his hard cock—watching. She imagined his hand moving up and down the length of his shaft. With each article of clothing she removed she imagined him sucking in a deep breath and groaning in sexual frustration. He’d masturbate until she was finished and they’d both be satisfied.
There was no doubt he was watching. She felt his eyes on her body, begging to touch it. Most women would close the curtains and be freaked out by the idea of a man watching them every time they undressed, but not Addison. She loved the idea of being watched. She enjoyed the freedom to put on a show for him. He could look, but he couldn’t touch. That alone made the whole fantasy fun.
Addison unhooked the front clasp of her bra and flung it with the shirt. Her hands cupped her large breasts. An early bloomer, she was teased endlessly in high school. She’d hated her huge boobs as a teenager, but now she was happy with her bust.
The palms of her hands ran over her nipples, stirring them to life. She took them between her fingers and tugged until they were fully aroused. Pinching the hardened nubs she bit her lower lip from the sensations racing to the core of her pussy.
She needed an orgasm.
Soon.
Releasing her nipples, her hands floated down her stomach and around to the back of her black skirt. Unzipping the tight fabric she eased it over her hips and let it fall to the floor, where it pooled at her feet. Stepping away from the skirt she made sure she was still visible to her admirer.
She turned around, hooked her thong panties around her fingers and bent over. She dragged the panties down her legs, giving him a view of her puckered ass. Holding on to her ankles, she rotated her hips ever so slowly. She loved putting on a performance like a stripper, only hers was a one-man show.
What was he thinking? Was he wondering what it would be like to drive his stiff cock into her waiting ass? Or did he want to fill her hole with a butt plug so he could ram into her wet pussy?
She reached up to her pussy to find she was soaked. She slipped her finger inside. Pulling out she dragged her juices out coating her lips.
Ready.
Time to rock his world.

Dog Days of Summer

Yep, this is the "puppy!"
I don’t know what it is about the middle of August, but everyone in my house is bored and restless. Maybe it’s just that it’s too hot to be outside and we didn’t put up the pool this year. (Due to construction that is now over a month late in starting, but that’s a whole other story.) Maybe it’s that it’s been too many years since our last real vacation, but there’s certainly no money for another. Maybe it’s just the dog days of summer.

Yep, even the dogs don’t like it. The puppy—who’s now a whole year old—wants to play, but can’t stand the heat. The geriatric grump-asaurus doesn’t even try. Outside, business done, back in ASAP.

Well, come Monday, I’ll have a little something for you to brighten a few minutes of your summer doldrums, and it’s even vaguely canine-related. Sporting Wood, a werewolf/dryad story loosely set in my Immortal Cravings world, will be released from Ellora’s Cave. Absolutely FREE. Yep. Free. So here’s a little sample, just for fun.

Blurb: What happens when a werewolf and a dryad meet in the forest at night? For Cooper and Kyla, the result is smoldering hot passion beyond anything they’ve ever known. Even though there’s no real future for a botany professor and a nymph who lives in a tree, Coop keeps returning, night after night, for the steamiest sex of his life. When their fiery passion turns to love, it seems hopeless, unless a determined Kyla can find a way to keep her man.

Excerpt: (PG-13)

Coop trotted along in wolf form through the wooded grove. To a human, this area deep in the heart of the Olympic Peninsula’s temperate rain forest would seem impenetrably dark, but to his senses it was awash in the silvery light of the full moon. He’d never ventured this far into the forest before, but he knew he’d be back. There was something elementally soothing about this grove—as if it had never been touched by the hand of man. All the tension of his day slipped away, even more so than it always did when he was able to shift and run through the moonlight. Here in the forest, he wasn’t Professor Marceski, constantly worried about maintaining his grant funding or getting that next paper published, and he wasn’t even Cooper, the werewolf. He just was.

He paused beside a particularly stunning red alder tree and lifted his leg.

“Don’t even think about it, Fido.”

That gave Cooper pause. He stood there, leg cocked, and studied the tree. Had it actually spoken to him, or was he more stressed-out than he’d realized after just finishing up his tenure approval?

“You heard me. Shoo. Go piss on somebody else.”

He yipped softly back, tipping his head from side to side.

“I know what you are. If you want to talk to me, fine, just project your thoughts, dummy. But first, go over in the bushes and relieve yourself. Don’t get any of that nasty stuff on my bark.”

The voice was decidedly feminine, if a little bit on the snarky side. Now that he thought about it, he could tell it was inside his head, not something he was hearing through his ears. Huh. Trees that could talk? While his scientific brain was processing the possibilities, he walked over to some huckleberry shrubs and took care of business. Then he went back and sat down in front of the alder tree.

What are you? Trees couldn’t talk. He was a botanist, damn it. He knew that.

A tree, you moron. You are a little slow, aren’t you?

The scruff of Coop’s neck stood up. He was considered a genius in scientific circles. He’d almost perfected a vaccine against Dutch elm disease, a breakthrough that could save thousands if not millions of trees a year. He was not a moron.

Really? Then why are you sitting on your butt, talking to a tree?

The tree had a point, but Cooper shrugged it off. Do you have a name?

You don’t know an alder when you see it?

Another voice, also female, but a little—older? sharper?—chimed in. This one is a bright one, isn’t he? Why are you talking to him? Cooper looked around and placed this voice into a Douglass fir off to the left that had to be over two hundred feet tall. The alder, at maybe sixty feet, was positively dwarfed by her—its—neighbor.

Sorry, ladies. I meant individual names, since clearly, each of you is unique.

The fir laughed—at least Cooper could have sworn it did. How could a tree laugh? He’s a charmer, even if he isn’t too smart. I’m Xera.

Kyla, said the alder, her psychic voice sweeter and more musical than the fir’s, even though she’d been kind of snotty at first. What’s yours?

Cooper Marceski. He dipped his head in greeting to each tree.

Cooper? Does that mean you make barrels? The alder—Kyla—sounded unimpressed.

Cooper chuffed a laugh out his snout. No. It’s just the first name my parents gave me. I’m a teacher and scientist.

Oh really? He could hear the skepticism in the voice of the fir. Scientist.

Yes, Xera. I know you think I’m a little dim, but in human form, I’m a professor of botany. Which was probably why his mental breakdown took the form of talking to trees. The irony was by no means lost on him, even if he had cracked.

You’re not crazy. Kyla’s tone was actually kind for a moment. If you believe in werewolves, why not talking trees?

It takes pilot B.J. Gilmore to teach widower Grady Rawlings that loving 'tomboy-style' can heal his wounded heart.

And to wrap things up, here's an excerpt (that I haven't shared on this blog--or really anywhere--before). Hope you enjoy!!

“Can I taste you?”

B.J. honestly hadn’t thought the night could get any more erotic. She’d come hard and long and felt sure she was done till the next full moon. Someone stick a fork in her. But at his seemingly shy question, a pulse of pure desire beat its way up her thighs and fried the nerve endings in every erogenous zone on her body.

“Well, hell,” she said, opening for him. “If I’d a known you wanted to go down on me, I would’ve let you finish me off.”

He looked uncertain for a moment, then said, “I probably couldn’t have given you an orgasm anyway. I’ve never...you know, done this before.”

B.J.’s mouth dropped and then she shook her head. “Well, you cheap bastard,” she said and laughed outright. “I bet all the girls you’ve been with don’t miss you at all.”

He frowned slightly. “Amy would never let me,” he said defensively. “She thought the whole idea was…” He shrugged. “Dirty...unsanitary. She didn’t think she’d be able to kiss me again if I went anywhere near there.”

His words fell off as he glanced at that tempting spot on B.J. “So, what about the other women?” she couldn’t help but ask.

He sent her a strange frown. “Other women?”

The hairs on the back of B.J.’s neck spiked with apprehension. Needing to appease her own unease, she pressed, “You know, the other women you’ve been with.”

He shook his head. “I started dating Amy when I was fourteen,” he reminded her. “We never once broke up, and...well, you already know you’re the only one since she died.”

“Oh...my God,” B.J. murmured, feeling utterly dumbfounded. She sat up as if to escape the realization. This was not what she wanted to hear. “You’ve only been with two different women your entire life?”

(Don't worry, dear readers, B.J. breaks in our near-virgin hero just fine by the end of the story)

Interivew of Reader Zuradia Worrell

Today I'm happy to present an interview or reader Zuradia Worrell! Our readers are very important to authors and we love to hear their stories!

My name is Zuradia. I am 23 years old and I live in the hottest place in the world. Okay, so that's not exactly true but it sure does feel like it sometimes. I actually live in Phoenix Arizona. You know it's hot where you live when it's after 10 pm and it's still over 100 degrees outside!

I actually started reading romance books/novels when I was around 13 or 14 years old. I was never a social person so I turned to books as my source of entertainment. I've always been an avid reader. Well I finally had run out of interesting things to read in the young adult section of our local library and so I decided to look around and see what looked interesting.

Well I came up on the romance section of the library and I was so embarrassed! I only ever saw older women going into that area. And heaven forbid if my mother or anyone from school came in and saw me. But I ventured in anyway and picked out my first romance novel. Of course I went to the self-scan station so no one would see what I had chosen to check out. Of course my mother did end up seeing the book but she didn't care what I was reading. I laid down that night and read that book from cover to cover. I'm a fast reader. Ever since that first book, I haven't been able to put them down since.

I don't really have any hobbies other than reading. That is probably the number one joy in my life other than cooking. I absolutely love to cook! Let me rephrase that, I love to cook when I don't actually have to do it. If I have to do it, then I don't want to. I love creating different flavor combinations and testing them out on people to see what works and what doesn't.

As far as the reading goes, I love to read paranormal erotic romances. More specifically paranormal erotic romances having to do with vampires and shifters. I'm not exactly sure why that is the genre I fell in love with, but it has caused me to run into some great stories by some great and very talented authors like Kate Douglas with her Chanku stories, LA Banks with the Vampire Huntress Legend stories, Laurell K Hamilton with the Anita Blake series, and Charlainne Harris with the Sookie Stackhouse series just to name a few.

And yes, I did get sucked into the whole Twilight thing. Not exactly what I'm used to, but for some reason I can't seem to resist. I also love to watch shows that deal with vampires and shifters. I love watching the shows Moonlight, and Blood Ties. And I am an absolute True Blood junkie. I can't get enough of that show.

Q: What type of genre do you enjoy the most and why?
A: I enjoy paranormal romance the most. More specifically, vampire and shifter stories. Why? I really don't know there is just something about vampires and shifters that just does it for me.

Q: What inspired you to read romance books?
A: What inspired me to read romance books was the fact that I ran out of everything else that was available to read for young adults at the library. I just decided to check one out one day (the whole time I was embarrassed as hell because I'd never seen anyone but older women in that section) and I haven't put them down since.

Q: Do you read ebooks, print books, or both? Have you thought about getting an ebook reader if you don't already have one?
A: I actually read both but I prefer print books. I have an mp4 player that allows me to read ebooks on it, but I want to get a device specifically for reading ebooks. This way I can actually listen to music on my mp4 player again. Lol

Q: When do you read and do have "comfort food" as you read?
A: I read all of the time. Seriously all of the time. If I'm not sleeping, I'm reading. I even read while I'm eating my meals. I don't really have a comfort food whether I'm reading or otherwise. I'm a big girl, all food brings me comfort.

Q: What kind of promo items (bookmarks, trinkets, brochures, etc.) do you enjoy receiving?
A: I'm greedy. I like them all!

Q: Do you enter contests? What type of items do you enjoy getting if you win?
A: Yes I do enter contests. I enjoy them. Of course, I enjoy them even more on the rare occasion that I happen to win. I enjoy winning books most of all through contests. I'm always up for adding to my library.

Q: How important is a cover when you're looking to buy a book?
A: I don't really consider covers that important because the cover is not what I'm going to be focused on. I'm going to be too busy paying attention to the actual story. If you let cover art influence your decision, you might end up passing up a great story because of lousy cover art.

On Hold

I'm on hold.

Most of the time, that is a message that strikes fear into anyone who has ever called for service. But in this particular instance, for me, it's a good thing. Why? Because what's on hold are my next stories.

Okay, that doesn't sound like a good thing. Trust me, it is. I currently have two short stories and a novel in the editing process at my publisher, Captiva Press. Normally, this would be a time of frenzy as we attempt to get the editing done so we can get the stories out. That was before I found out I was going to be moving. And taking care of cleaning out my m-i-law's house (60 miles away) as well as my own. Two houses to clean and declutter and get ready for sale while painting, cleaning and doing all the prep work necessary to move into the new house. And don't forget my day job.

Yep. I'm over-extended. And because of that, the wonderful editors at Captiva Press allowed me some time off. They knew that my mind would be so filled with the tasks at hand and the stress of everything that's going on that I would be less than effective at doing the necessary edits to the stories. So they gave me a break. And I adore them for it. I can't wait for all the "stuff" to be done so I can get back to my writing.

So what's on hold? Here's a sneak preview:
Heartmate - prequel to "The Chosen", a short erotic story that is tied to the one I currently have for sale. It gives the background of the Stone of Destiny and how it all started.

Building to Love - sequel to "The Chosen". Yep, both a prequel and a sequel. This one involves the daughter of Stefan and Malena as she attempts to understand her powers and find love that will last forever. Also a short erotic.

The Crystal Keys: The Emerald Key - the first in a four-part series, urban fantasy novels, that concern the keepers of four keys to a realm of magic. They, with their Protectors, must keep the portal safe, and along the way, discover the magic of love.

Hopefully, I won't be on hold much longer. :)

Interview of International Cover Model Jimmy Thomas!

Today it’s my pleasure to present an interview of multi-talented Jimmy Thomas…known to many as an international romance cover model. His career encompasses many avenues; just reading his bio at his website will explain that…sports, weight training, senior architectural designer, martial arts and personal trainer, cover model, business owner, entrepreneur. His resume lists a variety of items to include television/film, commercials, music videos, magazines, catalogs, etc. Definitely a man of many talents!

Where to find information about Jimmy Thomas:
Websites:
http://www.jimmythomas.com
http://www.romancenovelcovers.com

Q: Where else can we find you?
A: Well, I keep my Facebook page updated with my covers I’m on and the artwork created from my stock images, and I chat back and forth with those leaving photo/album comments ;) at
http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/JimmyThomasDotCom?ref=ts.That is where I am daily and virtually active.

Q: With all the directions you’ve taken with your skyrocketing career, is there one job you’ve thought about trying but haven’t attempted?
A: Producing/Directing, which is not just something I’ve thought about, it’s what I will be doing next. I already produce and direct all my novel cover shoots for my RNC stock image website, and it is something I have basically done with most of my careers: Personal Training: I produce workout and diet regimes for my clients… Architecture, I produce layouts and designs and direct homeowners on what would be best for their lifestyle, family, accessibility, future resale, for their new or remodeled home…etc., but producing/directing movies has been a desire of mine for a long time!

Q: I scanned all your covers…unfortunately, you’re not on any of mine...and have some favorites like Wild at Heart and The Spellbound Bride. Do you ever get the opportunity to reject a cover you’ve done?
A: Lol, no and I have no problem with that. I’m on about 25 to 30 new covers each week now, so being picky on cover art/design is rather senseless for me at this point. I can see if I only had a few novel covers and wanted to show everyone, but really didn't want them to see those particular covers (nudge, nudge), but I have enough great covers from amazing cover artists, to washout the few ‘not so great’ covers. ;) My images are bought from my RNC stock image website http://www.romancenovelcovers.com and the purchasers (cover artists, publishers, authors, graphic designers, website designers, novel trailer production companies, television/movie producers, etc.) have the licensing rights to manipulate the image as they see fit for their use, along with other images and/or artwork and/or text, as long as it falls into my terms and conditions guidelines listed on my stock website (no malicious and defamation of character, etc.).

Q: You teach self-defense, something everyone should know. Is there one special technique you could share with us?
A: Sure, for women especially, you will not be able to overpower a man; your strength just won’t compare, especially if he gets angry or is on drugs, so trying to struggle, or going for his groin, knee, etc., can easily lead to making him more aggressive if you don’t land your attempt just right and follow-up, so go for his throat or eyes.

Jamming your fingers straight into his throat will instantly put him into a panic, whether on drugs or not because he won’t be able to breathe… take your fingertips right now and give a little, quick poke to your throat. Shocking, huh? Now imagine it being done with force. Thumbs and fingers in his eyes is another quick and easy defense. No strength, training or talent is needed for either one of these defenses, and yet both are two of the easiest means of stopping an attacker.

I find it so funny when you watch in a movie where someone is being choked and the web of the attackers hands are over the front of the other person’s throat. This is movie-choking, lol. In reality you would rotate your hands around the back of the neck more so that your thumbs are directly on the throat and push your thumbs in for choke-out. Applying only 3-5lbs of pressure will crush the larynx. Anymore can easily kill the person, as swelling will start immediately and they won’t be able to breathe.

Q: Would you consider architectural designing again for some special project? Is there something you’d love to design?
A: Actually, no. I’ve been doing it for over… well, for a long time. ;) I’ve designed 4-story, cliff-side houses on private islands in Florida, to Platinum LEED Certified homes in Hawaii; the first to ever be designed and built in America, to working with the 'Afghanistan World Foundation' on the Rebuilding Afghanistan Project, where I have a share in the patents of the design of these low income housing units created from the hundreds of thousands of unused shipping/cargo containers (you'll see my name in the credits as 'Key Designer'): http://www.afghanistanworldfoundation.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=162:awf-announces-housing-project-initiative&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=98 .

So I’ve kind of had my time in that field/career and I can’t stay working in one field for too long. Once I feel that I have done all that I wanted to do in it; reached my point of accomplishment (or boredom, lol, I need to let it go and move on to my other and new passions, dreams, goals, desires.

Q: Your time spent in Europe sounds amazingly full of traveling and adventures. Is there one location you truly enjoyed and hope to visit again? Where and why?
A: Of all the locations I’ve been to abroad, I would by far go to again, and highly recommend, Venice!!! It is just gorgeous there! Every photo looks like a post card. Everyone is so nice; it’s just so pleasant.

Q: We know you got to serve Breakfast in Bed to romance author Sandy Sullivan at the Romantic Times Book Lovers Convention in April. How great of you to volunteer to do this as part of a contest. Will you do this again…and where…so we will know and can enter?

A: Besides this year in Columbus, Ohio, I also did it last year in Orlando, Florida, where Romance Author Kathy Kulig won it. I’m not sure if I’ll be doing it again next April at RT in Los Angeles, as I’ll be having a lot going on next year at RT, some big surprises! ;) But if I do, I will let everyone know how to enter the raffle for it.

Q: You have a wonderful and long resume of your fabulous career. What will be added next to your list of accomplishments?
A: Thanks! :) Next is being on more covers than anyone in history.

Q: Your resume lists a number of characters you’ve played. Which did you enjoy the most and what did you do in your portrayal of this character?
A: I don’t think I have a favorite. I like changing it up, although I also love romance, which will never get old. ;) I enjoy the challenge of portraying any character given to me.

Q: Favorite food?
A: Chocolate!!! Pastry, Italian.

Q: Favorite drink?
A: Coconut/Pineapple juice, vanilla almond milk, chocolate milk.

Q: What would you consider to be the most romantic place in the world…just so we might get some travel ideas?
A: Venice Italy!!! :)

BIO:
In the beginning, God said, Let there be light…

Several thousand years later, after many eons of famine, pestilence, war, and police actions (that we all know were wars the government couldn’t sell us on), God the Father said, “The world needs more righteous humor and romance. Let Mary McCall be born.”

God the Son said, “Dad, it’s my turn. Let her words bring joy and inspiration to the masses. I am placing a pencil in her hand.”

God the Holy Ghost chuckled. “I’m topping both of you. I’m inspiring the invention of the internet to spread spam, email jokes, time-draining games, and otherwise confuse the masses. And in that world, all authors, including Mary, will have to promote their books. Who’s got humor now?”

Thus, on a cold December 31 four minutes before midnight in the Texas Panhandle on Reese Air Force Base near Lubbock, Mary was born to Robert Duncan McCall and Minnie Stone Fulcher McCall. Lt. McCall wiped his brow and grinned at his wife. “Thank goodness you timed that well. She’s a tax deduction for the whole year.”

After that, she cost her parents tons of money. She began with crayons on the walls, furniture and floors. Her parents saw that wasn’t good and surrounded her with lots of butcher paper. By the time she turned three, she was a reporter. She told her parent about her brother breaking the glass on the coffee table, about her younger sister painting the bathroom with shaving cream, and about her older sister ironing her hair. Her parents saw that wasn’t good and explained the difference between being a reporter and being a snitch.

Onward Mary grew until she was quite verbose. She wrote poems, book reports, research papers, satires and just about anything she could think of. Since she was using paper and pencils/pens, her parents saw this as good. Unfortunately, Mary didn’t like French. So when her high school French teacher gave her an A for paper on the Eiffel Tower that she didn’t write, she took the A and kept her mouth shut. Over the years, Mary spent many hours in the confessional.

Eventually, Mary wrote for nurses, business people, hospitals, doctors, psychology professionals, spiritual people and just about anyone else who wanted to read her words. This landed her for a time in Who’s Who in Nursing and Who’s Who in Business Professionals. Everyone kept telling her that she should write fiction, because she had a storytelling flair to her non-fiction, making it easy to read.

An avid reader, she finally decided to try her hand at it. When her serial-killer who ritualistically terminated his victims according to the Passion of Christ turned into a romance, Mary decided she wasn’t going to be the author of the next Cherry Ames nurse-detective series and she would write historical romances instead.

Once she wanted to write a TV series about her dating life called, Mary Fills a Monastery, but Will & Grace came out the same year. She decided the timing wasn’t right and got a new dog.

In addition to writing, Mary loves to read old Latin manuscripts, learn new trivial historical facts, and sing. While she likes to sing melody, God’s humor extended to her larynx, and she’s a true contralto. She can also sing Ole’ Man River in the original key, so go figure. Her favorite music is Ambrosian and Gregorian Chant and early polyphony. Her favorite composers are Palestrina, Mozart, Fr. Fredrick Faber, Billy Joel, and Elton John. Oh, and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. She never writes a love scene without The Phantom of the Opera playing in the background. Her favorite cyber playground is the Julie Garwood Bulletin Board with like-minded wenches.

Mary’s favorite all time author: Simon (aka: Peter): no last name. He was a Jewish fisherman but ended up in Rome.

Mary’s professional writing memberships include: Romance Writers of America; River City Romance Writers; Hearts through History Romance Writers; Celtic Heats Romance Writers; Faith, Hope & Love RWA, Inc.; Electronic and Small Press Authors Network; Savvy Authors, Inc.; Sisters in Crime, Inc.; and Malice in Memphis.

Q: What’s the first thing you did when you received word you’d sold a book?
A: I put on my glasses and read the letter a second time. Then I e-mailed a friend for contract advice and went out for a full-course Steak dinner with friends.

Q: What part of the book is the hardest for you? Why?
A: Definitely, the hardest was the scene in which the heroine describes her mother’s death to her grandfather. I cried when I wrote it. I’ve taken care of so many abuse survivors that I wanted to write about one who not only survived but also learned how to trust again. Catharsis is one of the major needs of many abuse survivors. They need to share the story. For my heroine, it’s also a matter of revenge. She calls it “giving him my memory,” because her grandfather, to keep her mother away from an enemy clansman, married her off to a Norman baron who abused both the mother and the heroine. In fact, I named her Hope, because that’s one thing every abuse victim needs.

Q: Who is your favorite character in your book and why?
A: I love my hero and Heroine, but here’s a surprise. It’s probably my heroine’s horse, Diable. He sets up a jealous rivalry with the hero until the hero goes off and raiding and brings back a mare for Diable.

Q: If one of your books became a movie, which celebrity would you like to star as one of your hero?
A: This may not be so farfetched. I spent two hours on the phone with a producer talking about my current work-in-progress after one of my beta-readers shared the Legend and Prologue with him of Highland Legacy with him.
It’s based on research from the Vatican archives regarding the mission of Luturius Draco Arturius (aka: Luther Pendragon. Interestingly, He earned the Draco nickname for his love of using Greek Fire in battle) and the mission that took him from the Roman Empire into Wales and eventually landed his descendants in the Scottish Highlands. When I learned that Clan MacArthur, one of the oldest clans, claimed to be descended from the real King Arthur… Well, a story was born. What can I say? I’m a writer. It’s a Constantine meets Braveheart meets King Author meets Indiana Jones, hero and heroine save the world kind of romance. What I was planning as a 3rd in a series romance with a minor romance among sidekicks is now a 4-book series and the sidekicks get their own book. If I had to pick someone to play the hero, I’d want an unknown with the voice of Sean Connery, the body of Adrian Paul, and the face in my dreams.

Q: Do you eat comfort food when writing? If so, what food inspires your imagination?
A: I tend to go the other way. I forget to eat, because I get too wrapped up in the story. This has become a real problem since I have both malabsorption syndrome and reactive hypoglycemia. When I do eat, the one thing that sparks ideas is prime cut steaks.

Q: What is your favorite romance book that you’ve read?
A: This is a hard one to narrow down. 1st favorite is Joan of Arc by Mark Twain; second favorite is Les Miserable by Victor Hugo; 3rd Favorite is The Flame and the Flower by Kathleen Woodiwiss; and , 4th favorite is Ransom by Julie Garwood. My favs span time.

TAG:
Can a gifted soul find peace when her freedom is stolen?

BLURB:
The Legend: A great druid priest once bestowed a gift upon the ancestors of Clan MacKay. In each generation a girl-child would be born who possesses keen intuition, the ability to draw pain, sense illness and stalkers, walk and converse with wild creature. She lives with abandon, loses herself in passion to her mate, and bears complete loyalty to those she loves. Wherever she is born, destiny returns the Gifted to the Highlands for only there can she find her soul mate. With powers of her own, the priest’s wife added a flaw to all the women of the clan: Mischief.

Leonce MacPherson became chieftain after an unknown Norman slaughtered his father and clansmen. For two years he’s raided Northumbria seeking vengeance while a dream woman promises the return of his great sword, stolen in the massacre.

After escaping an abusive father, Lady Hope Nevilles, unknowingly the Gifted MacKay of her generation, has lived with animals for friends in wild Northumbria. She longs to flee to her mother’s native Highlands and find a place away from capture and torture.

When her father steals Leonce’s son, Hope takes that as a sign to journey to the Highlands. She returns the boy and the great sword to Leonce, who recognizes her as his dream siren. He tricks her into marriage, but she has vowed to kill herself rather than submit to any man. Can she learn to trust? Will her father's sin haunt her future? When she learns the truth of her ancestry and gifted spirit from a clan enemy, will Leonce accept the news, or will distrust and jealousy doom their fragile union?

EXCERPT:
Entering the darkened cave, Leonce heard a stalking, feline trill. He turned in time to catch Hope, who launched into his arms and wrapped her legs around his waist. Grabbing his head with both hands, she captured his mouth in a savage kiss. Just as he overcame his shock and sucked on her sweet-tasting tongue, she pulled back, bit his lip, and licked the spot. “What say you, MacPherson? Want to end this cursed feud now or suffer longer?”

Before he could answer, she sucked his lower lip in the place she’d nipped and dragged him back into another hot, wet mingling of mouths. He tightened his hold. Growling low in his throat, he plunged his tongue into her mouth and feasted on her heady nectar. When her breathing quickened, he broke the kiss. She issued that carnal little growl that drove him wild as she tried to reclaim her prize.

He held her back. “Mayhap The MacPherson is of a mind to let The MacFury suffer and not end this feud until he knows what provoked it.”

Hope chuckled and tightened her legs around his waist. “The Roarin’ MacPherson broke his promise to take his mate while keeping her off her feet.”

“Ah, so she baited her lion and lured him into her den to have her way with him. But the lion is king, and he’ll master his mate.” Leonce grinned. “Mayhap he’ll make her beg.”

Leonce pawed one hand from her waist over her back and under her softly rounded bottom. Slipping his fingers into her tender folds, he massaged her sensitive flesh. Sapphire eyes shimmered with flames of desire. A strangled moan left her. Her head fell back, and she arched against him.

“You’re hot and wet, MacFury, and yearning for a mating. You want to beg me?”

She pressed her feet against his buttocks. “Nay, MacPherson. ’Tis you who will beg, because your loin is bloody well throbbing and aching for the mating too.”

Damn! As she caressed the words “bloody well throbbing,” his release drew near. Removing his hand from her slick heat, he shifted her weight and hitched his plaid aside. Then he gripped her bottom and lowered her until his shaft nestled at her feminine passage. With a wicked leer, he kneaded her rump on both cheeks. A whimper caught in her throat, and she bit her lower lip. Her eyes, molten with craving, refused to plead.

“Have we an agreement, MacFury - the mating ends the feuding?”

“Aye, MacPherson.” Her lips curved into a lusty grin. “As long as you keep me off my feet.”

Possessiveness claimed him. “Then ’tis finished, Lady MacPherson.”

Firming his grip, he imbedded himself inside her with one powerful lunge. Urgency enveloped them. Their joining erupted into a primitive mating of savage passions. She met his thrusts with raw need, trying to control their rhythm. He held her fast and exalted in his supremacy as she surrendered to his dominance. Her body convulsed around him, and her low moan of ecstasy filled the cave. He plunged deeply within her, effecting his own release.

The lion’s conquering roar echoed through the hills.

Leonce gazed at Hope’s enraptured expression as the currents flowing through her receded. At the moment of her climax, she let go and yelled, “Catch me, Leonce.”

Now he held her waist, still filling her as she was suspended before him with eyes closed, head thrown back and arms flung wide.

Good God! She had given her whole self to him. Trusted him completely. He knew to the very moment when she had given him her love, but this was so much more. This was her spirit. This young woman, who had suffered so much and feared she could never trust, had put her absolute faith in him. He cherished this gift and reaffirmed his vow to keep her forever safe.

Interview of Author Linda Kage

Today it's my honor to present an interview of fellow RBRU Member Author Linda Kage...someone I've known for years and am thrilled with her success!

Latest Book: The Trouble with Tomboys
Buy Link: http://www.thewildrosepress.com
Video Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p34LALqd2uA

BIO:
Linda is a contemporary romance author from the Midwestern USA, where she lives with her wonderful husband, daughter, and nine cuckoo clocks. The eighth and final child of dairy farmers, she was forced into having a vivid imagination if she ever wanted to do something one of her siblings hadn't already tried.

Q: What part of the book is the easiest for you to write? Why?
A: Dialogue is easiest for me, which is really strange because if you met me in person, it wouldn’t take you long to realize I’m not much of a conversationalist; I suck at it in fact. Maybe I’m a good listener though because I simply love to craft fun, witty banter.

Q: Who is your favorite character in your book and why?
A: B.J., the heroine in The Trouble with Tomboys, is my favorite character because she’s so UNLIKE me. She’s loud, unashamed, confrontational, and says whatever she likes. It was a blast to write her because I’d always think, “okay, what would I NEVER say in this situation? What would I NEVER have the guts to do here?” In a way, I’m in awe of her because she’s so bold. But her blunt attitude is also her biggest character flaw because it can occasionally make her a little rude. Neat, huh? She’s an oxymoron; her best and worst feature is the same attribute.

Q: If one of your books became a movie, which celebrity would you like to star as your hero? Tell us about your hero.
A: My hero, Grady, is a great foil for the heroine. Where she’s outgoing, he’s reserved. Where she will say whatever the hell she wants, he only speaks the bare necessities. Since I compare him to George Strait from the movie Pure Country in my story, I’ll stick with that celebrity. They both have a similar quiet, compelling strength about them.

Q: What hobby do you enjoy when not writing?
A: Whenever I have a free moment, I read. But I tell the hubby I HAVE to because it’s research for my writing. So, if that doesn’t count, I like to take walks, watch movies, and hang with my family. Oh, and go out to eat. I swear I could eat out every day.

Q: You’re on a remote island with a handsome man, a computer, and a “mysterious” source of electricity to power your computer. What do you do?
A: Hey, I’m a woman. I can multitask. Besides, how hard could it be to stretch out on a towel, take in the sun, receive a full-body oil massage from a hunk, and type out my masterpieces all at the same time?!

Q: Facebook, MySpace, Blogs, Chats, or Twitter. Which do you like best and why?
A: Facebook. More people I know are on there. Seems like as soon as I make a comment, someone is responding to it. Plus, I can keep up with my family and friends better there. But Blogging comes in a close second. I’ve met a lot of wonderful people in the writing network from my blog.

BLURB:
THE TOMBOY

Pilot B.J. Gilmore is Tommy Creek, Texas’s tough tomboy who loves to fly planes and gamble and doesn’t give a whip what anyone thinks or says about her…until Grady Rawlings steps into her life.

PLUS THE WIDOWER

Heir to an oil dynasty, Grady has inner demons to battle. Ever since his wife and unborn child died two and a half years ago, he’s developed a deep-seated hatred for sympathy and can’t handle anyone feeling sorry for him or treating him like some pitiful widower.

EQUALS TROUBLE IN TEXAS

Grady hires B.J,'s plane service to fly him to Houston for an overnight business trip. While there, she coaxes him into accompanying her to a late dinner, where she decides it’s time for him to move on with his life. A month later, she turns up pregnant with his baby, and neither of them is prepared for the chaos that follows.

EXCERPT:
He lowered his face, thinking she might not recognize him if he kept walking by.

“There you are,” she called.

Damn.

He glanced up and fell to a pause. She’d moved closer to him, was only about five feet away. A pair of big brown eyes hit him full in the chest. She blinked as if startled to see him dressed in his business gear. Her gaze ran down his suit, missing nothing as it slid over his jacket and slacks. The blatant female appreciation in her stare made his throat constrict. He itched to tug at his tie and breathe again, but refused to show her any sign of weakness.

She licked her lips before meeting his eyes. A strange sensation rushed up the back of his spine and neck as he watched the dart of her tongue. The feeling tickled the base of his skull, but he wasn’t sure what it was. Could’ve been his own awareness of her, he guessed, but it’d been so long since he’d felt anything—toward anyone—he dismissed the idea as soon as it came.

Grateful she’d moved away from his door, he nodded his hello and pulled a key card from his pocket as he stepped around her and approached his room. Hopefully, she’d realize he wanted to be left alone.

No such luck.

She turned as he passed her, falling into step with him. “I was fixing to head downstairs and find myself some vittles. You hungry?”

“I’ve already eaten.” He unlocked his room to emphasize how much he wanted to be alone.

She set her hands on her hips. “Well, you look like you could do with an extra meal here and there. Why don’t you come along? Keep me company.”

He shook his head. “I’m not hungry.”

Sighing, B.J. tugged his briefcase out of his hand and tossed it into the opened door of his room. He frowned but didn’t react. If his head didn’t hurt so bad, if he hadn’t been thrown off track by the incident at the end of the meeting with Weatherly, if he could only see Amy smile again when he closed his eyes, he probably could’ve come up with a suitable comment to scare her off. Something scathing and dry. But his head went blank, so all he could do was gape at her for her daring.

To further confound him, she hooked her arm through his and started walking them toward the elevators. He could’ve been rude and pulled away. But for some reason, he followed.

“Don’t matter none if you’re not hungry,” she said. “You just sit there. I’ll eat enough for the both of us. I hate going to those fancy, shmancy hotel restaurants by myself.” She grinned at him. “I won’t even make you talk if you don’t want. Hell, I’ve been known to carry on a whole conversation by myself. So you don’t have to worry about a thing. Just having a presence like you around will do me well enough.”

“It’s been a long day,” he said as she stopped to press the elevator button. A last attempt for escape. “I’d like some rest.” He unhooked her arm from his.

She grinned up at him, her brown eyes hopeful and encouraging. “You can sleep the whole way home tomorrow if you like,” she told him. Then her grin faltered, and the gleam in her eyes died. She gave him a serious, probing look. “Just don’t make me eat alone tonight, Rawlings.”

Grady froze as a sensation similar to pity slammed through his windpipe. He knew exactly what it was like to eat alone every night.

Anything else you’d like to add?
Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting with me. It was wonderful to be here today to talk about my story. I love blathering on about The Trouble with Tomboys. There’s just a certain soul behind the plot that endears me to it and makes me proud my name’s on the cover.

CONTEST & NEW BOOK – A sneak peek at “In His Arms”

I’m soooo excited – my newest erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave In His Arms is being released September 3. To celebrate, I’m hosting a contest today. For one lucky commenter on this blog, there’s a chance to win one of my books (details below).

I just got the cover last night and have to share. Yummmmm. I love it!!! :)

Here’s the blurb and an excerpt – along with the link to my page at EC. Enjoy!

Blurb:

Owned by one man, loved by another. . .

Abducted and delivered into sexual slavery, Lori has surrendered her will in order to survive. For more than a decade, she’s been known as Summer, a lovely submissive, her owner’s possession until he gives her to his newest lieutenant, a mysterious man called RJ. Commanding and virile, RJ dominates without cruelty and possesses without threat, engendering a mixture of safety and passion. In his strong arms, Summer enjoys carnal pleasure she’s never known and tenderness she’s craved. In his heated gaze, she experiences a sense of recognition she doesn’t immediately understand until it proves dangerous in a way she could never have imagined. Bound by desire and their growing love, RJ traverses the shadowy world of human trafficking, risking all for Summer’s freedom only to learn she harbors a fateful secret that threatens to tear her from him, leading to an irrevocable event that risks both their lives.

Excerpt:

(In this scene, Summer has learned that her owner, Anthony, has given her to RJ, a mysterious newcomer to Anthony’s operation, and now RJ is about to take possession. . .)

Summer’s breaths grew shallow. A pulse beat steadily between her legs. More moisture answered, the wet warmth seeping from her opening.

Don’t touch her, RJ had ordered Hogan. With those three words, he’d offered her the greatest and dearest protection she known, along with a measure of respect.

Gratitude mingled with her growing attraction to RJ, the power of both emotions overwhelming her. She wanted to feel his weight and heat. Her body ached to touch his.

RJ made her wait. He stepped away from the bed, his hands on the edge of his sweater, lifting it over his firm torso.

Eyes fixed on his smooth, golden skin, Summer forgot to breathe, her gaze following his sweater as he pulled it upward, the ends fluttering over his pecs.

Her lips parted on a wanton sigh at his unusual tattoo. The geometric design, a series of thick black swirls that ended in sharp points, covered his right pectoral muscle and flowed over his shoulder to his back. Several of the points curved from behind to reach just below his right nipple. Another set curled around his muscular biceps. The effect proved startling, savage, the kind of marking men would have used in ancient times to declare their strength to an enemy or a woman they held captive.

For the first time in eleven years, Summer didn’t feel trapped. She hungered for this, wanting nothing more than to have RJ mount her, his heavy weight and heat making her feel protected, safe, treasured…if only for a time.

Her heart beat crazily at the thought. At having something—someone—she wanted.

She stared at the tufts of hair beneath his arms, a deep coffee color, bearing his male aroma. Her eyes shifted to the side, another tattoo circling his left biceps. As black and geometric as the other, this one was a tribal band, with loops and whorls that jumped as his muscles flexed.

He pulled the garment away from his head, tousling his hair, giving it a bed-mussed look complemented by his hooded eyes.

A new rush of moisture bathed Summer’s opening. Her breaths came fast and hard.

Hogan cleared his throat, demanding notice.

Summer ignored him, unable to drag her focus from RJ.

His beautiful eyes strayed to her parted and waiting vaginal lips.

She longed for him to touch her.

He did not, instead retreating several steps to one of the gold satin sitting chairs, a dainty design made more ineffective by his masculine bulk. Slowly, as though he enjoyed having her anticipate their coming pleasure, he removed his leather boots. His black socks followed, revealing his large feet and long toes.

Before the night ended, she’d lick and suckle them before moving to his cock.

Standing, he unbuckled his belt, lowered his fly and pushed his pants to his knees, letting them drop with a faint whoosh to his ankles.

The sound matched her quick exhale of air.

Navy boxer briefs hugged his narrow hips and powerful thighs. Behind the stretchy placket, she saw the promise of his meaty cock and balls. She spread her legs even more, summoning him to fill her, wordlessly begging him to do so.

With a smile curling his beautiful mouth, RJ pushed down his briefs and stepped out of them.

The room seesawed, along with Summer’s thoughts. Naked, RJ faced her, confident in his masculinity and ability to bring her pleasure.

A thin sheen of perspiration coated her throat, intensifying her perfume, enhancing her female scent. Never had she been as ready for another man, not in all the years since Anthony had owned her, changing her life forever. Her pulse points throbbed, marking each beat of her sprinting heart. She feasted on RJ’s tall, perfectly formed body, the thatch of thick, dark hair covering his groin, his rigid penis, ruddy with arousal, his balls plump and tight against his groin.

Padding to the edge of the bed, RJ sank to his knees and slid his large hands beneath her ass, bringing her close to him. At his commanding touch, her lips parted and her lids fluttered. Once he had her in position, he met her eyes, confirming her approval, then licked the length of her cleft.

Molten heat flooded her. Chin pointed at the ceiling, Summer lifted her ass, bringing her cunt closer to RJ’s tongue, wanting everything he had to give.

He ignored her wordless request for more. Working two fingers inside of her sheath, he stretched her opening as though he wanted to make certain it would be adequate for his thick cock.

She relaxed her muscles, accepting this invasion as readily as she would his stiffened rod.

With his fingers still inside, RJ finally returned to her clit, his mouth latching onto it, his stubbled cheeks scraping the tops of her thighs, his tongue swirling around her tender nub.

Summer’s fingers curled into tight fists. Her lusty moan filled the room.

Clearly not wanting her to come too quickly, RJ withdrew his tongue from her nub to lick the edge of her vulva and her smooth mound. Summer swallowed and panted. She elevated her hips to force him back to the only spot that mattered.

He paid no heed to her willfulness. Hand on her belly, he directed her body to return to the mattress. Once she complied, he held her there, his fingers still inside, pressing into her much softer flesh, his tongue continuing to ignore her nub.

A protest gurgled in the back of her throat.

Immune, RJ lapped her juices, as though testing her reaction to him as a man and as a lover, one she’d chosen. Never had she known anyone like him and she responded without artifice, mewing for more, for every—

Her thoughts halted at his teeth bearing down carefully around her nub, his tongue negotiating its contours. Something indescribable and thrilling coiled between her legs, tensing her muscles, snatching her breath. Crudely and loudly, she cried out at the orgasm sluicing through her, the contractions of her inner muscles sucking RJ’s fingers deeper.

There they remained as Summer fought for air. She’d barely managed a full breath when his thumb replaced his tongue on her clit.

No. Even the slightest stroke became more than she could endure, the pleasure too deep, unbearable. The points of her high heels gouged the comforter. She heard the fabric rip. Her hips thrashed trying to escape him.

He wouldn’t allow it, keeping his fingers deeply inside, his thumb poised on her nub. She whimpered.

In His Arms is filled with suspense/surprise and an indescribable love story, heightened by erotic romance.
