Do We Love Shifters at #RB4U ? ABSOLUTELY!

I mean, what's not to love about shifters, right? There's just something so intense and feral about them. I'll be totally honest here. While I do enjoy a good contemporary romance, my heart belongs to paranormals. One of my best selling shifter series, the Kyron Pack, helped me to find an agent. A second series, Jungle Heat, shot me to the NYTbest seller list. It's obvious that not only do I love writing shifter romances, but people love reading them, too.

As my contemporary romances took off over the past year, I had less and less time to write paranormals. This made me incredibly sad. While I had a lot of books out in 2014 and 2015, there wasn't a werewolf, vampire, or wizard among them.

That's all going to change, however. Recently I had the opportunity to return to the Jungle Heat series and play with my hot, Brazilian cat shifters. These alpha males not only love their motorcycles, but they love their women, too. They need strong ladies to tame their wild ways, and the heroines of these stories are more than willing to take on the challenge.

In CRIA and CONQUISTA, the stage is set. Humans are destroying the Amazon rainforest and squeezing out the different shiftertribes in the area. In Cria, these tribes started fighting amongst themselves. In Conquista, they decided to come together. Now, these sexy shifters are ready to face the large construction company ruining their home. They set up thier headquarters in Rio de Janiero, the city where the construction company headquarters is held. What happens in Rio? Well, you'll just have to read the third book in the series, CORAZON, and find out!

So tell me: what's your favorite type of shifter? I'd love to hear from you!

While you're thinking of an answer, take a peek at CORAZON, coming October 22nd!

When Marissa infiltrates the notorious motorcycle club on the edge of town, she's prepared to destroy the shifters who are threatening her family. She isn’t prepared for their leader’s sensual proposition, or to play a dangerous bedroom game. As her heart softens, secrets come to light, and Marissa must choose whether to claim her brithright and carry on the family legacy, or follow her heart.

Coming October 22nd, but you can preorder now!

Excerpt (Careful, it's hot!!):

Marissa had always suspected that kissing Navarro would be intense, but she had no idea just how intense until he had her in his arms. The man was sin on a stick, and with each passing second she was falling more and more under his spell.

When he brushed his tongue against the seam of her lips, it felt like heaven. With a groan, she parted them in invitation. Navarro took advantage, planting his hand along the back of her head to hold her steady as he plundered her mouth. The kiss wasn’t gentle, but Marissa didn’t want gentle. All her life she had dated “gentle” men who her father found respectable. There was something wild and feral in Navarro. It called to a primal place deep inside her soul.

She was the one who was supposed to be seducing him, not the other way around. If she didn’t regain some control over this situation, she would never be able to use this moment to gain the information she needed.

As Navarro lifted her up onto the bar and eased in between her thighs, Marissa attempted to disentangle herself. Somehow, her movements brought her closer to him, not farther away. That wild, testosterone part of him was turning her muscles to water. It had been so long since she had sex, even longer since she had good sex. Something about Navarro told her that one night with him would be extraordinary.

Giving up on her plan to take charge, she inched closer to the edge of the bar and slid her hands around his waist. As his erection pressed up against her inner thigh, she decided that she’d give herself over to the moment just this once. By giving herself over to him, she could gain his trust. Yeah, that’s it. Trust.

As he slid his tongue against hers, weeks of building tension exploded into her mouth. He tasted raw and masculine, a heady, leathery taste that matched his scent. He invaded her senses, pushing through the last shred of her defenses until the world around her faded away. She moaned and tilted her head, deepening the kiss. Within seconds there was only her. Only him. Only hungry mouths and skin touching skin.

“Yes,” she gasped as he tore away from her. He kissed her jaw and neck, creating a hot, tingling sensation along her skin that fueled her desire. She leaned her head back and closed her eyes as he let go of her wrist and ran his large fingers down her back. Sliding her hands up his washboard abs and along his muscular chest, she slipped them under his black, leather jacket and pushed it off his shoulders. He pulled back and shed the jacket on a single, fluid motion. It fell to the ground in a heap around them as he leaned forward and kissed her neck once more.

“Navarro,” she whispered as she tugged his T-shirt from his jeans. After freeing the cotton fabric, she eased her fingers underneath and slid them over his skin. The hard muscle flexed under her fingertips as he inched closer to the edge of the bar. Digging her nails into his skin, she wrapped her legs around his waist and positioned herself until his cock pressed up against her center.

“What is it about you, Marissa?” His breath whispered over her skin, making her shiver. “From the first day we met, I felt the tension between us.”

“Yes,” she whispered as his tongue flicked over the sensitive vein in her neck.

“Ever since then, I’ve been watching you, trying to figure out why you have this affect over me.” He eased his hand up her side and covered her breast. Marissa moaned as he squeezed her sensitive flesh and kneaded the tip between his fingers.

“No other woman has captured my attention like this. Just your scent drives me mad with desire.”

“Navarro, please.” She tugged up on his shirt, eager for him to remove it. She wanted him, had wanted him from the first moment she stepped into Estrella’s. The tension between them that he mentioned was real. As he leaned her back onto the smooth surface of the bar, a sense of urgency rose up deep inside of her core. She shifted her fingers, sliding them around his torso and rubbing them over his rough skin. He growled in response, a throaty, masculine sound that sent a jolt of desire up through her core.

He shifted until his lips were inches away from her ear. “I need to be inside of you, querida.” He flicked his tongue over her lobe. “Before this night is over, I will make you mine. Only mine.”

Entice Me: Something Moor #RB4U #sneakpeek #MFRWauthor

Despite the fact my life is something of an on-going roller-coaster and has been that way for the past two months, I did manage to get a short story completed for ENTICE ME, the first boxed set from the authors of Romance Books 4 Us. Set in Ireland, Something Moor is about Fate and Destiny, as well as our ability to recognize what we are meant to know once we find it. Caragh McCarthy is alone, and not entirely sure a trip to her past is a great idea. I hope you enjoy what Fate has in store for her when she gets lost on the moors of County Tyrone...

SOMETHING MOOR: An unexpected trip to Ireland takes Caragh McCarthy back to her ancestral home, and the past collides with the present when car trouble strands her on the moors of Country Tyrone. When Kelan O’Shea comes to her rescue, a 300 year old injustice might yet be set right, and a promised future can be fulfilled.

Excerpt:

“Where are you heading on a night like this?”

Kelan O’Shea tucked a flashlight into his backpack and smiled. “I’ve got to get home, Maeve,” he replied. “You know that.”

She pouted and shook her head before coming to stand at his side. “They can manage without you for a night, Kel.”

“And here was me thinking I was indispensible.” He grinned and held up a hand when she would have tried to dissuade him. “I have to go.” He ignored her glare and headed out the door. Maeve was getting a little too clingy for his liking, and despite a lifelong friendship, he would soon stop visiting her. She ran a wonderful stable with excellent horses, and he enjoyed his hours spent on the trails. But… he laughed at his own thoughts, always a but to ruin things.

He reached the stable and led his horse out into the damp evening air. The storm had been torrential, holding him up longer than he intended. He mounted and nudged the gelding into an easy cantor. The animal was familiar with the route, and required little guidance.

He was only a mile or so from home when the horse deviated from their usual trail. A minute or two later, Kel spotted why. He reined in his horse and slid from the saddle in an easy motion. The ground beneath his feet was slippery. He paused just long enough to be sure he wouldn’t end up on his arse with his next step, then he crossed carefully to the figure lying in the rain-soaked grass. He dropped his pack and hauled out the flashlight. A quick once over twisted something unnameable deep in his bones and he swallowed the reaction.

The unconscious woman he’d found was a stranger. Her dark hair was soaking wet and tangled strings clung to her ashen features. Blood stained one shoulder of her lightweight jacket. He carefully picked her up and took her to the patient horse. It took him a few minutes, but he got her positioned in front of him and he touched heels to the sides of the gelding.

“Come on now, boy, we need to get home in a hurry.”

The horse agreed, he picked up his pace.

“How is she Doc?”

Seamus Payne was an old family friend, and he eyed Kel for a few seconds.

“Why was she out there on the moor? Even a stranger should have known better than to attempt that.” He closed his medical bag before adding, “Why in hell were you out there?”

Kel shrugged. “I got delayed by the storm.”

“Know who she is?”

“Caragh McCarthy,” Kelan said. “She was headed here, but wasn’t due for another day.”

“She the one you’ve been waiting for?”

Kel hesitated, then looked at the woman lying unconscious in the bed. “She might be. Is she going to be all right?”

“Keep an eye on her, she may have a slight concussion. She hit that rock pretty soundly. The bleeding’s stopped, and the few stitches won’t need to be in long.”

“I’ll keep an eye on her.”

Payne had just reached the door when Kelan stopped him with a question. “Did you see an abandoned car on your way in?”

“Half a mile from where you found her.”

“Can Robbie tow it here in the morning?”

“I’ll ask him when I get home, but I’d say yes,” the doctor said. “I want to see her at the clinic, Kel. It would be a good idea to get a CT scan. I don’t think she’s incurred a serious head injury, but I’d rather be cautious.”

“I’ll bring her in as soon as possible,” he promised.

When the door closed, Kelan pulled up a chair and sat a short distance from the bed. Leaning back in his chair he shook his head. “What the hell were you thinking?” he mused.

Guest Blog: Theresa Snyder talks about The Twin Cities Series #Paranormal #RB4U

What is the Twin Cities Series? It's a collection of novellas shaping an urban fantasy world unlike anything you've ever imagined! The Realms is a Gothic metropolis populated by creatures of horror, fantasy and mythology, existing in a dimension separate from ours, yet connected by more than just the portals linking our worlds together. A place of constant danger, mystery, and excitement, where not even the city itself remains free from change.

It's the home of urban fantasy adventure, romance, and comedy. A mix of genres for a unique reading experience that you won't soon forget.

Cody is the central character in The Shifting Books of the series. He is a shape shifter with some monumental problems that all started when he died. He’s escaped to The Realms from the midlands between Heaven and Hell only to find his best friend is potential food for the resident vampires, his girlfriend only loves him in his wolf form and her mother…well that’s a whole other story.

It isn’t easy being Cody, but like a good wolf he’ll do what he can to protect his pack even if it kills him. Wait…he’s already dead.

Entice Me Anthology: Werecat Love by Janice Seagraves

I'm proud to be a member of this Romance Books '4' Us group and happy I was asked to be part of the Entice Me anthology.

I started Werecat Love a few years go, back when it was called Jared, the Fierce Were Kitty.

I had three sparks of inspiration from my muse, Annabella, and like usual she wondered off. "You can take it from there, right?"

But then I had help from an unexpected source. The cat I had at the time, Baron. His unique personality was just perfect for my werecat Jared when he was in his cat form.

Baron, AKA Jared Catterick

After writing the three pieces, I ran them through two yahoo groups. My critique partners loved it. But it was still just three pieces of a story. Then I was asked to the anthology.

However, the process from signing up for the anthology to story completion, almost didn't happen.

You see, I was so busy, I nearly gave up writing this year.

First, I planned a wedding for my daughter and son-in-law.  I'm assuming everyone knows about what goes into one. Second, if that wasn't enough, hubby and I looked for a house to buy, found one, signed stacks and stacks of paperwork, and then came the dreaded move. It took nine days to move across town. I know a lot of people move in one day, but we didn't. And it took an additional three to haul away a bunch of stuff we didn't need anymore. Twenty-five years in the same house, and I never realized we had so much junk! My back still hurts thinking about it. Then third, two weeks later, I became a first time grandmother. In between helping with the baby, I set up my new office, and then finally I could write.

It was wonderful reacquainting myself with my characters. In the process, Jared became Scottish and his love interest, Morgan, became an American school teacher.

Excerpt, Werecat Love:

Morgan stumbled into the Mountain Lion ski lodge. Safe at last. She barely glanced at the rustic, rough-pine interior, as she limped past the homey furniture. Her goal came into view, the huge stone fireplace. Why the hell do I let myself get talked into these things? What was I thinking? I’ve never skied in my life.
She removed her soaked gloves, laid them on the hearth, then spread her frozen fingers toward the warmth of the crackling fire. Snow packed into the creases of her ski-pants, jacket, and boots, but soon melted in the glorious heat. God, all this so Joan can flirt with her Italian stallion.
When the circulation returned to her icy body parts, causing a pins and needles sensation, she let out a slight whimper, then turned to let the roaring fire roast her rump. Morgan found herself staring into the amused green-eyed gaze of a man who sat on a leather chair. With wide cheekbones and a face that tapered down to a narrow chin, he was definitely worth a look. His long legs stretched out, emphasizing his lean build and athletic frame. He was attractively attired in hunter-green bib ski-pants, and matching sweater. His shock of bright orange-red hair stood on end. How unusual, it’s the same color as that cat I saw last night.
His full sensuous lips formed into a lazy smile. “You’re shivering as if you’re frozen right through.”
“Oh, I am.” She didn’t doubt he had checked her out when her back was to him. Morgan stopped rubbing her chilled behind, when she realized he watched her with unwavering attention. She wrapped her arms around herself instead.
“What you need is a hot toddy.” He straightened. “It’s excellent for when you have been exposed to the cold or had a shock to the system.”
Morgan arched an eyebrow. “Are you buying?”
