BIO:

Molly Daniels resides in the Midwest with her three children, spouse, and an assortment of pets. She’s been writing since age eleven, and wrote her first novel at age nineteen. She finally decided to seek publication for her University series in 2002, much to the delight of everyone who had read her work and demanded to know why she wasn’t published yet!

Q: What’s the first thing you did when you received word you’d sold a book?
A: I self-pubbed my first book, and when I learned it was available on amazon, I had my husband take me out to dinner. But three days later, when I received my free copies, I wanted to crawl into a hole; there were a few mistakes, plus I was convinced my family was going to disown me! But now, nine years later, I danced around the room with joy and a friend took me out that night for karaoke.

Q: What part of the book is the easiest for you to write? Why?
A: Dialogue. Sometimes I can ‘hear’ the characters in my head as they’re yelling/arguing/discussing something. And sometimes the conversations take unexpected twists!

Q: If one of your books became a movie, which celebrity would you like to star as one of your heroines? Tell us about your heroine.
A: Elicia Keller begins college as a spoiled, self-absorbed teenager, rebelling from her over-bearing father. She discovers she enjoys the party scene, but this takes a toll on her new friendships. I think Mila Kunis would be the perfect choice.

Q: Do all your heroes and all heroines look the same in your mind as you “head write”?
A: I’ve been told my men sound/look alike; that’s what happens when you pattern heroes after your ideal mate! But some of the men have their own distinctive ‘voice’, as you’ll see in later books. Matt Slagal in book #2, Kyle Sampson in #3; Peter in #5; Nick Slater in #4-8; Shane Winters in #7. And since my heroines were all patterned after women I met in my dorm(s) at college, they have their own ‘look’. But in each case, the situations/names have been changed to protect the not-so-innocent!

Q: Do you eat comfort food when writing? If so, what food inspires your imagination?
A: I’ve discovered I write really well when Fig Newtons or Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies are present. I also keep a glass of sweet tea handy at all times.

Q: What genre would you like to try writing in but haven’t yet done so? Why?
A: I have two paranormal books waiting to be written; the first chapter is as far as I’ve gotten in both. I’ve also got two which may or may not become Christian Inspirational. When I have time to write again, hopefully the characters will indicate which way they want to go.

Q: Facebook, MySpace, Blogs, Chats, or Twitter. Which do you like best and why?
A: I’ve become addicted to Facebook, even with the headaches the new format is causing. I’ve pretty much abandoned my MySpace account; I slacked off on blogging over the summer and have only recently gotten back to it. I have also fallen into the habit of only reading a handful of the blogs I follow, and I use Twitter to post my word count, plus have a conversation or two. And when I have time to chat (vs posting and running, ugh!) and the family isn’t yelling at me to ‘get off the computer’, I enjoy connecting with fellow authors and swapping excerpts/talking about our work/chatting in general. I’m sorry I couldn’t participate more on the RBRU chat loop, but Sundays are really bad for me to be online!

Tell us where to find you: website(s), publisher’s page(s), blog(s), Facebook page(s), etc. List them all!

Series blurb: University Tales:
Arbordale, Indiana...where mistakes are made, love blooms, friendships thrive, and futures are being formed. Start in 1984 and work your way to the present with these young men and women as they begin their journey toward adulthood!

BLURB:
Elicia Keller starts her first year of college as a snobbish, self-absorbed coed. When she starts enjoying the party scene, will her self-destructive attitude drag her down, or will she learn from her mistakes? Sometimes, the 'man of our dreams' isn't always the one we picture...

EXCERPT:
Elicia’s eyes opened. Oh my God…where am I? This is so not my room! Her head pounded, and as she tried to pull the covers over her head, her leg touched someone else’s. Shit! What the hell…what have I done? I’m only wearing my shirt! What happened to my shorts? She rolled over and instantly regretted it. Lightning bolts echoed inside her head, and she couldn’t open her eyes more than a tiny slit without feeling she was inside a strobe light.

Brent’s face emerged through the blur.

“What...what happened?” The words came out in a rasp, as if she was losing her voice.

“Good morning to you.” A kiss landed on her forehead. “Last night was wonderful." His hand slid up her thigh.

Elicia squirmed, then stopped, the pain in her head unbearable. Whatever happened, his touch was causing no pain and movement was.

“Did...did we…ah, you know, do..ah, anything?” She caught her breath, feeling stupid. She didn’t have on any underwear and from what she could tell, Brent was naked. Brilliant, just brilliant. Of course we did. Only I don’t remember any of it.

Brent caressed her cheek. “Shall I refresh your memory?”

Anything else you’d like to add?
Thank you so much Marianne! I’ve recently found out my release date will be Oct. 24th, so everyone who emailed me in August in favor of revisiting the 1980’s…mark your calendars! Book #2 will arrive in December, and #3 in January 2012. I hope to slow down after that and put out two per year. Since the characters in book #8 have been enjoying an extended vacation (2007 was the last time Lynne and Nick ‘talked’ to me), I need to chase them down and drag them home.

Esp when they're straight out of the freezer, right? Thanks Tina...I'm counting down the days. This has been a dream of mine ever since I began writing this series in 1985...but had NO idea it would even be a series until 1991.

Loved the interview and the series sounds fabulous. Got any of those cookies to share?

@Kari: Thank you:) I hope you enjoy reading it!

@Linda: Unfortunately, Thin Mints don't last long in my house. If I'm lucky, they'll still be around 2 weeks after they arrive. We joke the check doesn't even make it to the bank before they're all gone!
