Yay! My first contract in about a year!

I just mailed off my latest contract...

And I am eagerly awaiting my first set of edits.  I feel like a virgin...touched for the very first time...um...sorry about that. But if you have ever had a long dry spell (in anything) you know what I mean.

I got too sure of myself...too certain that anything I sent in would be accepted without hassle.  Not!  Things just don't work that way, and I was really fortunate that my first ten books were picked up quickly and were in publication within three months of my submission.  I got too self-assured, I suppose.  Well, I certainly got taken down a notch or ten.  Just goes to show me, doesn't it?  

But I can't really complain.  It made me sit back and take a hard look at my writing.  I am, by trade, a "pantser", and I have real trouble plotting things out ahead.  That makes me have to go back and rewrite lots of things...but I don't mind.  As long as I know that there is a contract waiting at the end of the trail, I will do what I must.  My muse gave me a couple of hard slaps upside the head...and I will pay better attention to her in the future.
