Interview of Cover Model/Actor Julian Fantechi!

Today it’s my pleasure to present an interview of multi-talented Julian Fantechi. His career encompasses many avenues: cover model, occupational therapist, fitness trainer, advertising model, actor! His resume lists a variety of items to include television roles, commercials, magazine appearances and theatre performances.

Contest: Win a GODIVA CHOCOLATES gift card! Contest ends midnight ET 15 October. To enter: Leave a comment (more than "nice interview"). Please put your email address in with your comment!

Where to find information about Julian Fantechi:
Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/julian.fantechi

Q: With all the different career directions you’ve taken, is there one job you’ve thought about trying but haven’t attempted?
A: Hmm...perhaps a minister...no seriously. Go to some third world country and get my hands dirty helping people out and talking Jesus at the same time. That's what a real man of God should do instead of telling people who to vote for and condemning gays.

Q: You have a Master’s degree in Pediatric Physical Therapy and specialized in working with mentally disabled children. Tell us about some experiences you had. What was the best part of your job?
A: It's a great career to have. Helping children. I would not be doing anything else in my life. Well except maybe be a PlayBoy photographer, lol.

Q: All the modeling work you’ve done includes the following magazines: Men’s Exercise, Exercise for Men, Men’s Workout, Men’s Health, and Men’s Fitness. How would you describe the competition for these jobs?
A: Intense. Everyone wants to be in a magazine but only a few can be.

Q
: You’ve appeared on romance covers for Harlequin, St. Martin’s Press, and DCL publications. Tell us what a “shoot” is like for a romance cover model.
A: It involves flowers, candles and castles. And lots of white doves flying around.

Q: As a cover model, do you have any say into the process? Can you ask for a pose to be changed or not used? Have you ever done this, and, if so, what happened?
A: Not really. It's what the publisher wants. This is a business not a glamour ego thing.

Q: Is there a difference between doing a “shoot” for magazines and book covers?
A: Not really. A shoot is a shoot. You just have to go with the theme.

Q: Tell us about your acting experiences. Any favorite one?
A: Ugly Betty was great. I got to make out with Salma Hayek.

Q: Favorite food?
A: Sushi

Q: Favorite drink?
A: Lemonade from lemons in my yard.

Q
: What would you consider to be the most romantic place in the world…just so we might get some travel ideas?
A: Hawaii

Anything else you’d like to add?
I am looking forward to new covers by Lori Lyn, Veronica Towers, Annie Marshall and of course Kate Hoffman who I have done several wonderful covers for. Any authors wanting me to appear on their cover please contact me at julian216@gmail.com or anyone wanting to purchase an autographed copy of any of my magazine covers.
Thanks for having me and a big hug and kiss to your readers!

I wonder if he ever gets recognized in any of his 'other' jobs. How often does he do model shoots? What does he like more? Theater or film?

Cool interview! Those are some pretty great covers posted as well. Seems like he's done alot in his life so far. I find his response to being a minister comendable.

The interview was wonderful and enlightening. My respect for Julian has grown ten-fold by this one paragraph.

(A: Hmm...perhaps a minister...no seriously. Go to some third world country and get my hands dirty helping people out and talking Jesus at the same time. That's what a real man of God should do instead of telling people who to vote for and condemning gays.)

Julian, you hit the nail on the head. Love and compassion is what Jesus is about. None of us have the right to be judge and jury.

Enjoyed the interview and the book covers.

How did you happen to land your first job as a book cover model?

When you do a photo shoot for a book, do you know what the story is about beforehand or do you just show up and just go with the flow?

He is my all time favorite cover model. So much personality and intellect besides having that beautiful body. I will buy each and every book that this gorgeous man graces. A real man speaks his mind and this is as real a man as it gets. He is the cover king in my book.

Thanks for a fun and interesting interview! Julian, the cover for "Love Fang" is one of my favorites : ) Being physically active is great for children--it helps them to burn off all that extra energy. Do you find that helping mentally disabled children to become more focused physically also gives them more mental focus?

Nice to know he has more than one dimension - doesn't seem like he's an ego freak totally concerned with how he looks - Fran A.

A fantastic looking young man - with a heart and a brain to match the body - I like! Sounds like he has a sense of humor as well -
I'd sure as heck like him on my cover - Fran A.

I had a friend who was a pediatric physical therapist. She worked with kids in a burn unit until it got to be too much emotionally. Then she switched to PT for special needs kids which is where I met her. I've been working with individuals (both kids and adults)who have special needs for 25 years. Great to see you have an interest in helping these kids. Many good looking model guys are to full of themselves to reach out and give back. Makes the idea of a romantic hero more believable.

Fun interview. He really helps create some very eye-ctaching book covers.

Julian, thank you for allowing us to see you as a wonderful person and not just a cover model. We all wish you much success in your future with all your jobs. Thanks again!

Anyone who has worked with children gets my vote. Especially, those who are disabled in any way.

Not only is he hot, but he's not afraid to speak of God. Good for you, Julian.

Great interview. You always wonder what the cover models are like. They are always looked at by others as eye candy. It is nice to know they have a broader side to them.

Awesome cover shots! Julian, you'd look great on any cover.

That was really a great interview! I have to admit, sometimes we just think of these models as a nice bod to drool over. It's great to see this one is not only hot- but smart :).

Thanks for posting!

Hey Julian what a great interview. *grins* I'll add more than just that of course. I had no idea cover models don't have a say in the theme. I also have heard of you but didn't know how extensive your career has been :) Kudos. Do you attend the Author conventions? Will you be attending RT or any function.

Amazing isn't it to have a degree in something you love and to also succeed in a totally different passion.

Hugs,
Hales
