There's an inevitable letdown after any major holiday, and while V-Day may not be a major holiday for many of is, for romantics like me, it looms large. If unattached, I feel like a total loser if I don't have a date on VB-Day (as well as on New Year's Eve, but that's another story). My flaw, I guess--I'm on an unending quest to feel complete within myself, and the hype surrounding V-Day doesn't help.
But this year, I do have a BF, and he's pretty cool. So I feel like sharing the joy and extending V-Day happiness beyond the day itself. And if anyone reading this is unattached and feeling lonely, I have a perfect distraction:
Here's what the book is about:
Hot isn't a hot
enough word to describe corporate raider Fletcher Wolf, but since he's suing
couturier Cara Fletcher for, oh, a gazillion dollars, she figures she shouldn't
hit on him…at least not too hard.
On top of that,
she wonders if he's responsible for the harassment and vandalism that's
plaguing her, irritants that escalate into crimes when her workshop is trashed
to the tune of a hundred thousand dollars. The economic damage enables him to
seize her company, bringing him into her life on a daily basis. When her Manhattan loft home is
torched and her assistant murdered, Cara realizes that the man she wants is the
only man who can keep her safe.

But the question arises: why romantic suspense?
For me, the answer's simple. I find it hard to write a love story that doesn't have a subplot. I've done it, but usually in my books there's something else going on. This gives my lovers something to do--catch the villain, for example, while they're falling in love.
A reader approaches this question differently, of course. They often say that they love pulse-pounding suspense, which is great for those of us who write suspense.
In the comments below, tell me why you love (or hate) romantic suspense.
Just to clue you in: Lisa Marie Rice is one of my favorite authors (and human beings as well--she's wonderful). If you like very steamy RS, she just might be your next favorite author, too.

I can't write a straight love story either. Something else has to happen.
Good luck with your release. I wish you many sales.

Thank you for sharing about a favorite author. I love stories that are unique! All the best!
I love romantic suspense - adds urgency to the love story. I can't write a straight love story either, there has to be a subplot for conflict - at least for me.
I have no problem writing a straight love story. I also love writing romantic suspense and I have several published and plan to write more. I like adding the element of mystery to a story. However, I'll still write straight love stories too.
I enjoy love stories, even those with suspense - movies too.
Hi, Suz! I like all kinds of stories; so no problem with romantic suspense.
Can't imagine a one-plot story. I like lots of stuff going on....
