Interview of Bestselling Author Sandra Edwards

Today, we're excited to welcome New York Times and USA Today best selling author Sandra Edwards to Romance Books 4 Us! Sandra was gracious enough to answer some questions for us today as well as share her new release, Second Chance Bride!

1. You write in a lot of genres. Which genre is your favorite and why?

That’s like asking me to label one of my children as my favorite. Lol. I like to read in various genres, so I suppose that’s why I write all over the place. I’m basically writing books that I want to read.

2. You say that your books step outside the boundaries of conventional romance. Can you explain that a bit more?

They don’t follow the guidelines for the typical romance. For instance, Frank Garrett (the hero of Crazy For You) is a rock star, which I’ve been told by numerous editors at traditional publishing houses do not make good heroes because they’re typically “unfaithful”. Incidentally, Crazy For You is one of my more popular books. One thing’s for sure, people either love that book or they hate it. Either way, I’ve done my job to evoke emotion from the readers. FYI, Frank has never been unfaithful to his heroine

3. Your Billionaire Games stories are very popular. What is it about Billionaires that you think makes them such a popular story type today?

Romance readers love to read a modern day fairytale, and that’s basically what marriage of convenience stories are.

 4. Have your career goals changed since you started writing? If so, how?

Sort of. I try to carve out more writing time, but there are only so many hours in the day. Since I am Indie (and prefer it that way), I’ve had to take on the roll of publisher too—which is very time-consuming (but I’m not complaining).

 5. Describe your perfect writing environment.

I have a large desk with a comfy chair, as well as a couch in my office so I can move around to make myself comfortable. That’s the key for me. I need to be comfortable.

 6. Outside of writing, what is your passion?

Video games. I love to play RPGs with my daughter. We think the Final Fantasy and Star Ocean series are awesome!

7. What has been the most difficult thing about working as a writer?

Choosing which book idea to work on when I’m ready to start a new book.

 8. How do you set the mood when you write?

A playlist on my iPod that’s appropriate for the subject I’ll be writing about. A glass of sweet tea. A bowl of mixed nuts (no peanuts please. Lol). And no interruptions while I’m creating. That last one is a hard one to pull off if my husband happens to be home during the day. lol

9. What genre would you like to try writing that you haven’t yet tried?

I’d love to be able to write a regency romance, but I’m not well-versed in the language enough to pull it off.

10. Out of your entire backlist, which book has the best opening line? What's the line?

Oh, gosh! That’s as hard as picking a favorite book. Lol. Based on the number of awards it has won or finaled in, I’ll go with Incredible Dreams. The line is: There wasn’t a single ghost in the entire joint.

I love that! Tell us where to find you: website(s), publisher’s page(s), blog(s), Facebook page(s), etc. List them all!

Since I’m an Indie author, I don’t have a publisher, save one—Amazon Publishing (they asked me to write something for one of their lines, so I did). I can be found online at: www.SandraWrites.com (my website) www.SandyWritesRomance.com (my blog) https://www.facebook.com/SandraEdwards.Author https://twitter.com/Sandra_Edwards https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/703055.Sandra_Edwards

After being jilted, practically at the altar, Genie Wainwright heads to Hawaii to escape the well-meant pity party her friends and family are bound to throw on her behalf. What she never expects is to find someone to help her mend her broken heart.

Donnie Taylor, owner of the posh Sapphire Bay Resort, has no interest in marriage—until he meets an unforgettable guest at the hotel. What starts out as a kindhearted gesture brings Donnie something he never expects—a chance at love!

“Seriously, Gene…” Cami’s voice echoed from the cell phone in Genie’s hand. “You went on a date last night?”
“I wouldn’t exactly call it a date.” Genie shrugged. “I think his mother put him up to it.”
“His mother?”
“Yeah. I think they both work here at the hotel.”
Cami sighed. “Well, if nothing else, he’s a great transitional guy to get back in the swing of dating.”
“I’m not really interested in dating anyone.” Even as she said it, Genie knew she was lying as images of last night flickered though her thoughts. Donnie was so easy to talk to; not to mention completely gorgeous. She wondered what his job was at the hotel, and how long he’d had to save to take her on that dinner cruise last night? It just didn’t make sense that he’d spend that kind of money on a girl his mother had pushed him into taking out to dinner. Maybe the dinner cruise was a reward from the hotel for his exemplary service. No matter how it happened the truth was, she was interested in dating Donnie, but he lived half a world away. “Besides, there’ll be like two thousand miles separating us when I go back home.” That was just it. Genie was going home, and sooner than she’s like. In a couple of days.
“Typical,” Cami said. “You finally meet Mr. Right and he works in a hotel in Hawaii.” Her laughter teetered off.
“Mr. Right?” Genie scoffed. “Nobody said anything about Mr. Right. Besides, we’ve only had one date. One.”

“Doesn’t take more than a taste of the wine to know if the bottle’s a keeper.”

  13. Thanks for being here today. I'm happy to see that you "stepped out of conventional romance boundaries" and wrote. So many authors are afraid to do this or frown on it. We need more authors pushing the boundaries and publishing more non-conventional romance books!
