Guest Post: Sabrina York: Authors...Leaping into Bed With One Another! Why Do They Do It?

You may have noticed the recent trend of authors leaping into bed with each other to create amazing collections at an insane price. Oftentimes you can snag up to a dozen stories (which would cost you more than $25 if priced singly) for 99¢.

There are two schools of thought amongst authors. Some hate these collections; others see the value of expanding their brand and leveraging other authors’ fanbase.

For you, as a reader, it’s a win/win/win. Not only do you get a great deal, you can try new authors for a pittance. We are, of course, banking on the fact you will love our work so much, you’ll check out our other books. As you can imagine, 99¢ less all costs and divided by 12 authors does not amount to a hill of coffee beans. But sometimes it’s not about the money.

My first collection, Hot Alpha SEALs, hit a bunch of lists on Amazon and shot me up on the charts in military romance, suspense, contemporary romance and more. I reached many readers I could not have reached on my own. It was a great investment in growing my platform.

I have several other like projects in the wings including Hometown Heroes (coming this fall), naughty Elite Metal (coming in 2015) and the scorching box set, Brought to his Knees, available everywhere now. I hope you’ll follow me on my social media sites to get updates on my coming books!

So tell me, what do you think about collections? Do you ever buy them? Have you discovered your new favorite author in one?

Whipped is my contribution to the Brought to his Knees collection. It’s the tale of a hard, hot hero, a scalding attraction and an irresistible passion. It’s a pity she’s the one woman he can never have…
BLURB:
Dane Coulter is mourning the loss of his best friend, fellow Special Ops buddy, Cody. Oh, Cody didn’t die. It’s worse. He’s getting married. Cody is, in Dane’s opinion, whipped.

Dane swears he will never suffer the same fate. But when he meets a woman who can take all his dominant loving and beg for more, he realizes he may have met his match. It’s a damn shame she’s the one woman in the world his man-code deems untouchable…his best friend’s sister.

  1. Hi Sabrina!

I love the idea of being able to sample several authors for one low price. Did I mention that my thrifty little heart loves a bargain? I do believe that it's a win/win for authors too because of the exposure. Good luck with Brought to his Knees!

  2. Sabrina~
Interesting post... I've never been a part of a multi-author anthology, though I've purchased several... ;) Best of luck with all your endeavors!

  3. Sabrina, it was fun "being in bed" with you and the other writers for SEALs OF Summer. What a great group. We not only brought on a bunch of new readers, but made life-long friends. Thanks for inviting me and good luck with you other ventures. We'll be back as Arnold likes to say...

  4. Sabrina, you hit on the pros and cons of boxed sets. I'm in a couple of sets and it's been fun, but can't say they boosted sales of my other books. I've bought quite a few boxed sets myself, because who can resist those prices? Your sets sound wonderful and hot. I like your bio too.

  7. Sabrina, I have never bought a boxed set. I usually buy authors I know, or have read for years.

  8. Hi, Sabrina! The biggest boost for a reader is getting to read other author's work for an insane price. Most of the time, the reader will buy backlist if they like a particular author--win! Win.

  9. I love anthology books because they were shorter stories and always showed me some new favorite authors! The book boxes or book bundles is another winner for me. Of course the price is wonderful!
