Let's hear it for the
roses...all sizes, shades and colors! The wonderful aroma, beautiful bouquets,
bushes, etc., all around us. Colors of Roses and what they mean:
RED: Known as the Lover's Rose, shades
can go from light to deep crimson. What better Valentine's gift than red roses?
Maybe with chocolates to add a special "romance" meaning?
PINK:
Expresses gentility, femininity, elegance, admiration. Deep pink: gratitude.
Light pink: grace.
WHITE: Represents purity, innocence and celebrates
weddings and young love.
YELLOW: Evokes a sense of warmth and friendship. In Victorian times, it symbolized jealousy!
ORANGE:
Symbolize desire, attraction, and passion...that can lead to a wild romance!
LAVENDER, LILAC, PURPLE:
Displays enchantment, and imagination...and love at first sight.
TURQUOISE: Expresses well-being, calmness,
fertility.
BLUE: Embodies a sense the impossible and of mystery while hoping for an extraordinary chance for the beginning of something new.
Whatever color you choose, you can't go wrong...except with black. No romance there. Just sorrow so stay away from them. Although, I'm sure some paranormal romances feature these black roses as the shade choice for dark tales!

I just love the language of flowers. As a Rose I fully enjoyed your post, Marianne. :)
ReplyDeleteGood to know this stuff! Thanks, Marianne!
ReplyDeleteI love roses. They are so beautiful but I'm also just a flower girl... I love carnations and lilies too. Today I picked a pink and white carnation. It's sitting here on my desk to remind me of my value. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
What gorgeous pictures, Marianne. I didn't know there were purple roses. Really cool. :)
ReplyDeleteAn idea popped into my head for a black rose, Marianne. lol
ReplyDeleteHi, Marianne! I love roses, esp the very old ones that have a good fragrance. My grandmother had a green rose. She could stick a stick in the ground and it would grow. I had tiny pink roses at my wedding.
ReplyDeleteCool blog. I love roses. I love all the colors, but now that I've seen the lavender, I like that best.
ReplyDeleteI just saw the most beautiful red rose yesterday - thanks for the post and now I know.

ReplyDelete*sigh* Roses.. they always make me get all girly and mushy. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteYellow, white and the palest of pink have always been my favorite colors for roses. I remember a scene in the romantic drama, Bed of Roses, when Christian Slater's character sends dozens of lavender roses to his lady-almost-love. Can't remember the name of the flower, something to do with silver or steel I think. Really gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAwesome post! Lots of good stuff here. Thanks for sharing, Marianne!
ReplyDeleteI go with the scent rather than the color...roses have one of the most curative and positive scents in the world. They have been used by holistic practitioners for many centuries...if not millennia.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
