BIO:
Jordan loves vampires. But if you know anything about Jordan, you already knew that detail. What you didn’t know -- it wasn’t long ago that she began writing about them.
A few years back Jordan received a copy of Twilight from her husband as part of her anniversary gift. By the end of that week she’d read the entire series and moved onto Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles. Eight weeks and eighteen vampire books later the idea for her first book, Perpetual Light came to her followed very quickly by Eva Prim.
In October of 2013 The Demon Mistress, the first Eva Prim Novel became available along with three short stories. For continual updates on Eva please join the Snack Of The Week Club at www.evaprim.com.
Coming November short story number four, Choices. Anarchy. Hypocrisy and in December 2013 Black Magic Rose, Book One of The Alliance Series. Join Jordan’s newsletter for updates at http://www.jordankrose.com/
Jordan is a member of the national Romance Writers of America organization and several chapters.
When she’s not writing about one vampire or another Jordan enjoys spending time with her husband, Ken and their lovable Labrador, Dino on the beautiful beaches of Southern Rhode Island.
Q: What’s the first thing you did when you received word you’d sold a book?
A: I asked my husband to read the email to make sure I was reading it correctly and not deceiving myself.
Q: Who is your favorite character in your book and why?
A: I have to say Eva is my favorite character because she's so vibrant, emotional and unabashedly focused on her own goal- having friends.
But my second favorite character is Pierre. His part in this book is not that big, but he has a much larger role in Demons and The Dark Roast and he's just hysterical.
Q: Do all your heroes and all heroines look the same in your mind as you “head write”?
A: No, they are all different, though I have to admit I am much more attracted to dark-haired men so I struggle a little more with blond heroes! But I am able to picture each hero and heroine as completely different from the others.
Q: Do you eat comfort food when writing? If so, what food inspires your imagination?
A: Yes, I eat the romance writer's staple of chocolate. Any kind of dark, milk is a close second. I love to have almonds, especially flavored ones.
Q: What genre would you like to try writing in but haven’t yet done so? Why?
A: I have two- I'd like to try a contemporary romance. I haven't tried it yet (not without a vampire or two) because I love the vampire character. I'm debating on writing one for next year. The other one is a horror novel. I have an idea for one, but haven't read enough of them to really feel I'd give my idea a good chance at success.
Q: Facebook, MySpace, Blogs, Chats, or Twitter. Which do you like best and why?
A: I prefer Twitter first, then Facebook. Though, I love, love chats. If I could do one everyday I would. They are so much fun. They're sort of like a Facebook party- fast and with a chance to meet so many new people.

BLURB:
What’s a girl to do when she discovers her husband, who happens to be the Master Vampire for the New England Region, has been lying to her for, oh, say a hundred and eighty years?
Well, it all depends. If she’s accidentally released forty demons from some creepy old book, unintentionally announced the existence of vampires on The Internet, kidnapped a werewolf, enraged a lovesick vampire by stealing his approved mate, and attracted the attention of The High Commander for The Vampire Federation, not to mention gotten stoned and mastered the forbidden art of demon calling, she might be willing to call it even.
Or, she might plead her case at an Inquisition and hope like all hell, she isn’t staked before sunrise. Eh, a slightly busier night than usual, but nothing Eva Prim can’t handle.
EXCERPT:
The Vampire Bond,” Titus shouts. He’s so angry drool drips from his mouth. He’s the exact image of the photo on the website.
He paces the office, reading or rather, shouting my blog. His shadow looms beside him on the wall, cast there by the flames from the fireplace.
“Only three reasons exist for a vampire to bind a human to him. The first is stupidity. An idiot may repeatedly feed from a human who tastes particularly good or who is an easy catch based on the limited powers of said idiot.
This idiot would have no idea of what he’s done. The Bond isn’t one-sided. It’s not as though the human is bonded to the vampire like a lovesick teenybopper chasing the movie star of the week.”
He stops pacing. No one moves. Stefan stares at his computer screen. Rob sits on the sofa. No one even reacts to this angry reading of my work.
I’m perched on the edge of the desk nearest the door, ready to bolt at the first sign any one of them is going to accuse me of writing the blog. My hand covers my mouth. My nerves are at it again. I can’t help but breathe, which makes it impossible to ignore Mr. Stinky.
“She’s calling the vampire an idiot. Does she not realize she’s the idiot? Let me continue. Let’s see what other pearls of wisdom she has to share,” Titus yells. As he stomps across the room, his feet pound into the rug, his toenails gouging the fibers to shreds.
“Oh, no. The Bond is double-sided, like double-sided sticky tape made from the strongest glue ever created. When a vampire bonds with anyone, The Bond is a constant presence, ever hovering in the back of his mind. Even in battle he’ll think of her, worrying about her safety, her life, her death. He’ll wonder why he didn’t change her. If he thinks she’s dead, he’ll let himself be destroyed, possibly engaging the sun to kill him.
It’s very Romeo and Juliet in a dark and twisted sort of way. Sometimes, Hollywood gets things right. Vampires are romantic. Who’d have thought?”
Titus’s head snaps up and he glares, snarling like a rabid gargoyle.
“Come on, man. You have to admit, that was funny,” Rob says, not in the least bit concerned about Titus’s reaction. “Vampires are romantic? Hollywood gets it right. This chick’s a riot.”
Liam’s lip twitches, and Gabe turns away from everyone to face an oil painting of the Greek Isles, every detail of which I’m sure he’s had committed to memory for the last two hundred years. I’m not sure if they’re laughing at Titus or my blog. I sit quietly and watch.
“I don’t have to admit it’s funny. It’s not funny. She’s outing us. It’s not your picture plastered all over the Internet for millions of people to see. Maybe tomorrow she’ll discuss werewolves. Who’ll be laughing then?” He kicks an empty chair and sends it smashing against the wall.
Which brings us to the second reason a vampire bonds. Love. When a vampire falls in love, he bonds with his mate. Again, very romantic, if the mate is willing. An unwilling mate could kill a vampire or drive him to kill himself. It’s a sticky situation.
“Option number three involves emulating Vlad. By bonding humans to him, Vlad created an army of human-servants who killed themselves to save him. Unconsciously, the human-servants cared for their vampire-master, even loved him.
“Egotistical, maniacal vampires try to follow in Vlad’s footsteps, hoping to gain power, strength and security. During the day when the master’s influence is weaker, the humans don’t think of him, don’t even remember him, but they protect him, unaware their every move is made to ensure his safety. At night when he rises and comes to them, they offer themselves freely.
“These are the reasons vampires bond with humans.”
Titus crumples the paper in his fist. “She has to be stopped. We must find and destroy her. First The Shift, then The Bond. Next it will be The Change.” He throws the ball into the fireplace and glares at the burning blog.
Welcome, Jordan, I enjoyed your interview. So nice to read about you and your books. It sounds like you devoured vampire books as research before you started writing them. I'll add your new story to my TBR list.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyable interview Jordan. I go for the dark heroes myself. Thanks for joining us today. Best luck. :)
ReplyDeleteLoved the excerpt...I've long been a fan of Ann Rice...and love your sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteLOL Jordan, I enjoyed your humor about vampires.
ReplyDeleteGreat interview! Thanks for stopping by and sharing with us today, Jordan! I can't imagine being lied to for 180 years! LOL He needs to sleep on the couch! ;)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your book series. I had to re-read the email a few times myself. Then I did the Snoopy dance. I wish you all the best. Vampires are so hot!
ReplyDeleteHi. Thanks for having me today Romance Books '4' Us. So great to come and meet all these lovely readers. Thanks to each of you for the comments. The dark hero is my favorite without competition. And 180 years is a terribly long time to keep a secret from your spouse, but then 180 years of trying to fix all the things your wife has done or made happen can be exhausting so Eva may not have a leg to stand on with trying to keep Stefan on the couch!
ReplyDeleteThank you all for stopping by and for the well-wishes. Jordan
Your books sound fantastic. I love dark heroes, as well. Especially vampires. ;) Thanks so much for taking the time to talk with us!
