Today I'm pleased to present an interview of romance author Kari Thomas.
Latest Book: Surrender Her Touch
BIO:
I
am a multi published author writing mainly in the Paranormal Romance genre. I'm
also a Reviewer for several major Publishing Houses, and a Freelance Editor
with a Publishing house. I love books so I consider myself a proud
"Book-A-Holic"!
Q: Who is your favorite
character in your book and why?
A: It's hard to choose
between Slade (the hero) or Summer (the heroine). Slade is a very alpha
character. He has to be. He's the protector of his small dragon shapeshifters
clan who lives in a modern world and tries to stay hidden. He's tough, but
every now and then you catch a soft side to him and it makes him even sexier.
Summer starts out a little vulnerable and then learns to face her future and
accept her life. She's strong, caring, and very giving. She sees these traits
as weak, but it's actually the source of her strength.
Q: Do all your heroes
and all heroines look the same in your mind as you “head write”?
A: Definitely not. I visualize each one in details that makes them very different. Each h/h have individual characteristics than none of my others have. It makes them very "real" to me while writing and also guides the story ---as most of my writing is character driven.

Q: What’s your strongest
point as a writer?
A: My imagination. I think that's why I
love the Paranormal genre so much. There are no limits to what you can create,
and there are so many possibilities. Even if you write a vampire or werewolf
story --when there are so many already out there -- you still have the chance
to create something no one has ever read before.
Q: What is your favorite
romance book that you’ve read?
A: I have two favorites
I've re-read. An oldie: "Gone With the Wind". A newer one: "Dark
Desire by Christine Feehan". The characters from both books are incredibly
memorable.
Q: You’re on a remote island
with a handsome man, a computer, and a “mysterious” source of electricity to
power your computer. What do you do?
A: Computer?
Electricity? All I see is that man...!
Q:
What genre
would you like to try writing in but haven’t yet done so? Why?
A: I would love to
expand into different genres, like main
Contemporary, and even Children's books. Too, I have several projects
that are Non Fiction and hope to get them done one day. I think venturing into
different genres is a step forward for authors, especially writers like me who
have imaginations that NEVER sleep!

BLURB:
Surrendering
her touch could be fatal; will she chose her own life over the lives of her
enemies? When a shocking truth uncovers secrets from her past, Summer is faced
with life or death situations. Should she accept what has been revealed and
give of her healing power to the very dragon shapeshifters who destroyed her
family or should she run as fast and as far as she can? What about the
too-sexy-for-his-own-good dragon shifter who has stolen her heart and soul--the
very man who will not let her say 'No' to her deadly destiny?
If she surrenders, will she lose more than just her heart and soul? Will the shifter she loves stand by and let her sacrifice everything?
If she surrenders, will she lose more than just her heart and soul? Will the shifter she loves stand by and let her sacrifice everything?
Quotes:
· "Let
the game begin…"
· “Heal
them, and then I’ll let you go home."
· “Big talk for a dragon who has to use a woman
as a shield.”
EXCERPT:
Fifteen minutes later he turned off Main Street and into the parking complex at the 'Tower Building'. Gaze alert for a parking spot his sharp preternatural sight
suddenly saw a bulky, odd-shaped, fleeing shadow darting between cars. He could
tell immediately that it wasn’t human. The movement was too fast, the form too
unsubstantial. Slade hit the brakes and stopped the Hummer. He jumped out and
ran.
His long legs and shifter strength helped him cover the distance in
seconds. Just as he reached the back of a van, the taillights on the vehicle
came on. He barely had time to dive out of the way before the van spun out,
tires screeching, rubber burning. Damn. Almost got me.
The shadow may not have
been human, but the accomplice most likely was, but he wasn’t able to see
inside the tinted windows of the van as it sped by. He quickly memorized the
license plate numbers. He then spun around and made the quick dash back to his
Hummer. Seconds later he was peeling out of the parking garage and in pursuit
of the fleeing van. His gut instinct was telling him that this was Summer’s
mysterious stalker. It had to have waiting for her to exit the garage
elevator.
But what the hell was it? And
why was it stalking Reed’s daughter? Possible answers flew through his mind as
he chased the van through late afternoon traffic. As an afterthought, he
positioned the police siren light on his dashboard. No sense in getting pulled
over for speeding.
Bad mistake. Slade cursed.
The occupants in the fleeing van saw the light immediately and made a sudden
turn off the main street onto a side road. Slade was driving too fast to slow
his own vehicle down. He swung the Hummer off onto the road and instantly felt
the tilting as the tires left the road. Split seconds later he lost control and
the Hummer flew off into the ditch. Upside down.
Lucky for him, dragon
shifters had tough hides. Not so lucky was the fact that while in human form,
that didn’t count.
