Yessssssssss! I've Been Reviewed.
I happened to google my name last week and was simply tickled pink by a review I found for Taming Chaos a novella I'd written late last year. I remember being newish and still waiting like others in the pool of sites hoping to get picked up. This one didn't get picked up as much as some of my newer releases. I'd even forgotten I'd submitted it to this particular site. So when I got it and they loved it of course I was super exuberant!
Although reviews are subjective, I look for them not just for honest critique and praise for parts absolutely loved, I look for them because I know my name gets out even more. Sometimes we forget that sites work on their time not ours and we get impatient waiting to hear from the masses what they think of us.
The timeline isn't ours but theirs and many sites no longer supply the author or publisher with the link but look for the author to activate google alert or some other search engine that will pop up the review given.
I wanted to do a small post to say hey! Don't give up if you haven't heard back and are waiting for a review, especially if you're newer, sometimes it takes quite awhile to get a good steady roll of them going.
Keep track of where your baby has been sent and keep promoting and writing and the rest will fall in place. And when you by off chance recieve a nice notice like I did sit back and enjoy the moment!
Bitten By Books
Taming Chaos is a tale of acceptance. Darvon is rigidly stuck in his world of Order and Sere is overwhelmed and appalled by her two natures. They must come to find the necessary balance between Order and Chaos in order to fulfill their destinies and their love. The passion is raw and steaming, and their love is complex as they fight not only their own natures but also each other’s. The author has created an extraordinarily thoughtful treatise and joyous, lust-filled journey.

I hope everyone is having a fantastic Memorial Day!
Congrats on being reviewed and thanks for the advice. As a new writer, we want everything right away and in this business, it is hurry up and wait! ;)
ReplyDeleteWTG, Hales - congrats on the great review!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you!! Hey, it doesn't matter if you're new or not. Sometimes a book just doesn't catch a reviewer's eye. I'm happy for you that yours did.

Congratulations, Hales.
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies. I know recently I've had afew new writers ask me how to get reviews and sometimes it's just a draw of luck lol. Othertimes it's just either timing or waiting.
ReplyDeleteI thought it would be a great way to show the time span in some places and the positive outcome since I'm all about the positive in things!
Nice! Good reviews make it all so much more worthwhile...Jean
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Hales! I'm sure this is the first of many wonderful reviews you will receive!
