That's What Sundays Are For! #RB4U @melissa_keir

That's What Sundays Are For...

Welcome! I'm today's host, Melissa Keir. I like to pop in on this date each month and share some fun and interesting facts with you about writing and life in general. If you checked out my post last month, you learned about April the Giraffe. Poor thing hadn't given birth as of Tuesday (April 4th) and frankly, she's starting to make me tired just watching her.

This month, I'm here to share what I like to do on Sundays. For many people, Sunday is a part of the weekend. The finish line before we hit the ground running on Monday. In the Christian religion, Sundays are a day of rest-The Lord's Day where people visit church and family, spending the day contemplating their lives. One of my high school friends called Sunday, Slug Sunday, where she just sits around and is a slug--doing nothing.

For me, Sundays have come to mean hard work. I use my Sundays to get most of my work done before Monday comes around. Since my schedule is during the week with teaching and writing, I like to get as much done on Sunday as possible. (Frankly I'm in bed by 8 most nights so no evening time.) I begin with changing the sheets on the bed and washing the laundry. Usually this is three to four loads, depending on if my husband had a chance to do any during the week.

Then it's grocery shopping because Sundays is my day for a big meal! I love to make a sit down, fancy meal for dinner (hopefully with some leftovers for the week's lunches) and special desert. I figure that on Sunday's I have the time so why not use it. So off to Krogers, then home again.

I lay out all the ingredients on the shelf and since by then, I'm hungry I get some lunch. In the meantime, I've switched the laundry from the washer to dryer and put the clean clothes upstairs. I may have started the dishwasher and made my lunch.

Often, I'm writing my blog and review for Monday's Melissa's Morning After Movie Review for WHMI radio station during lunch or checking email. If I'm lucky, I have some time for playing with the dogs or snuggling with the hubby before starting dinner. Then it's another round of laundry, doing some computer work or even *gasp* reading a book. When I get a chance, I'm vacuuming and dusting, working on edits or formatting, and cleaning the bathrooms.

Finally when it's time to sit down for dinner, I'm happily exhausted and guaranteed a quiet evening. Whew! I know it sounds like a lot but I'm one of those people who has to be doing a bunch of things at one time. I don't like "wasting" time but want to get as much done so that I can fit in some time with my family or friends when I want to take a day to help my son move or enjoy shopping with my daughter.

So what do you like to do on your Sundays? Are your Sundays busy like mine or more for being a Slug? Either way, I hope your day is filled with good friends and plenty of laughter!

Thank you for visiting with me today and be prepared for another interesting post next month, just in time for Mother's Day!

Sincerely,
Melissa Keir

Melissa--I'm exhausted just reading your post! I am in agreement with your friend about Slug Sundays. I like to catch up on what I've recorded, read, and work on my writing. Those Habits people call it "sharpening the saw."

Thanks Michele. Today I'm taking it slow...three loads of laundry, formatting, cleaning the bathrooms and vacuuming. I like keeping busy. :)

My Sunday's are lazy where I try and hide in my office to get some writing done. This schedule is subject to change when we get our pool next summer. I'm sure my Sunday's will change with family cookouts and pool parties <3

Usually, I'm up early and in for a long walk with Handsome; however, that's not happening lately and I've been sleeping in. And when I wake up, I watch the sunrise and open a book. I tend to piddle on Sundays and that's okay. And I always have a minute for some needlepoint. I hope your day is a good one. Hugs!

Love the giraffe. What a cutie.

You sound busy! Sundays are for me as they are for you, doing stuff to get ready for the next week. :)

Melissa, I remember those days. Sundays used to be my busy, busy day, but now that I'm retired, I spend Sundays doing very little and it's mostly with family. I love Sundays now. But because I'm retired I schedule all my housework and writing during the week. You'll get there one day. One step at a time through life's journey.

Thanks Tina. She's been pregnant forever! I love to check in on her. Just waiting for that baby.

My husband helps out a lot during the week Judy but I love making big dinners on Sunday. I think it's a throwback to my childhood when we spent the day with Grandma and Grandpa Jones and a big family dinner!

Sssshish! It exhausts me just reading about your Sundays. I'm of the Sunday is Slugday school.

Sadly, I don't have the time during the week, so I spend my Sundays playing catch up!
