Honeymoon Bite on KU |
My writing tree has three branches, and, unlike my apple, one is a runaway success and two others limp along. I have avid fans who have to wait too long for the next book. The sales of these Guardian Angels and Golden Vampires of Tuscany series are nowhere near the health of my SEAL Brotherhood franchise.
Heavenly Lover on KU |
I've known authors who lose interest in their most popular series and start writing things that cause them to lose fans. Indeed, when I last published a Guardian Angel book in 2014, some of my fans wrote me in a panic and begged me not to give up on the SEALs. I had no intention of doing so, and was actually touched people thought enough to comment.
But every once in awhile I start wandering down the bookstore shelves, looking for another good paranormal series. I don't have the time to read anymore, especially when I'm finishing a book, which seems like all the time now. Maybe some day I'll find a way to blend these two categories into one, without having my fans feel I've abandoned or corrupted my hunky all-American heroes. I mean, have you ever read about a 4th of July unabashedly patriotic vampire or guardian angel lately?
I didn't think so.

It is interesting. There are authors who write a variety of genres and I read all their books but there are others that I only read one of their genres. I am not sure what makes it so. I wish you much success with Zak and your get together.
Thanks, Melissa. I find the readership should be the same, because my voice is the same. But because it's vampires and SEALs, maybe it's the combination that doesn't work. The heat level is about the same in each. Not complaining, and thanks for the kind wishes. You as well.
I read all your series and will be here reading no matter which series your write. I actually like the idea of an Angel Seal :)
I'm patiently waiting for the next one of your books no matter
I love every single book I've read of yours and I am sure I will love every one you write in the future. I look so forwards to each new book that comes out! You are the best!
I love your SeaL books, they are books that take me on a adventure, but I guess its time for me to look for your Vampires and see how they measure up and see if they can take me on a adventure also. Thanks for all that you give us with your books, they are fantastic and I love them, so don't give up on any of them and keep writing.......Jara
Sharon, I enjoyed your apple analogy. Very clever. I, too, love your SEAL books. I love paranormal too, and I'll read different sub-genres by authors I like. I'd love to see you write a paranormal SEAL story.
Thank you, Karen. Really wonderful to hear. I promise to get to Gideon this year. Way overdue. I like the Angel SEAL too!
Ahhh, Terri. Thanks so much. I'm glad and I struggle sometimes, wondering which way to go. Wish I had 50 hours in the day!
Reading sometimes is like fashion something's stay fashionable, then we have a flash of different genres that flood the market and tire quickly. I started reading historicals, westerns and suspense for the longest time then branched out to other genres.
I do still love to visit my old favourites in between SEALs/vamps and whatever.
We enjoy whatever you write so good luck with it all
Jara, appreciate that so much. I don't promote the paranormals much because I've always got a new release in the SEALs. But I love them all, equally. You'll have to try out Marcus Monteleone in Honeymoon Bite. Had a kick and a half writing that one. Was critiquing with another well known NYT author those days and she rubbed off on me!
Thanks, Cara! I am such a slow reader, I'm afraid I'm way behind on my reading. So appreciate that you love the SEALs. That means a lot to me.
Thanks to you, Julie, one of my Superfans! I enjoy the variety. We'll see if my new techniques for 2016 work to speed things up. I hope so.
Love the apple analogy! It's so difficult to know what will snag the interest of our readers but I think we all gravitate toward what we enjoy the most whether it's reading or writing. I love all things paranormal but if I like an author, I generally read everything they write. Best of luck with all of your books!
Thank you, Paris! Nice to meet you!
