Since April is the month of rain showers, I'd like to share a peek at this book that will release on April 15, 2015.

Have you ever been caught in a downpour, without shelter...and without your umbrella? Where I grew up, it wasn't an unusual occurrence. Maybe that's why I always loved rain...the scent of fresh earth during a rain storm...the smell of ozone when lightening strikes nearby...
I used to stand in the open door behind the screen and watch the lightning and listen to the sound of the rain pounding on the roof and windows. No matter how cold it got, I would stand there inhaling the wonderful smells until my mother would drag me back, and close the door. And when I began to write, I would often begin a story with a rain storm. But rain storms in high desert county do not necessarily bring spring flowers. Sometimes they bring roiling, roaring flash floods that pour off the mountainside and carry with them rocks (large and small) and lots of soil and weeds.
I have written three books that include storms, large and small...and I never cease to marvel at the beauty of these natural happenings. The other two books are Woman on Fire and Ride the Night Winds.
Nature is seldom soft and accommodating in the West. When she unleashes her storms, she often lets them roll across the heavens with fierce beauty and harsh reality. But they are something humans always marvel at...they make us feel so insignificant.
Nature has a grandeur and terrible majesty we cannot imagine...
So we write about these things...and we marvel at their wonders...
Have a wonderful April...and always carry your umbrella...
Hugs,
Fran Lee

LOVE your book cover. What great storm pictures too. Congratulations on your new release!
Lovely post, Fran. I grew up in the Midwest, so I know all about spring rainstorms. It's something I miss here in the Sierra Mountains - however, we have THE BEST lightning storms. Just very little rain.
Super congrats on your new release! ;)
Love your pix...Just spent a long time trying to find one like these. We need rain here in so.cal so badly!!!
What a beautiful cover! All the best with your latest book!
I love rain and thunderstorms. Like you, watching them was my favorite past time! I could do it every chance I got from the front porch and still got a little wet. :)
Cara Marsi, thanks for the kudos. And this morning, we got 9 inches of snow instead of rain here in Utah. And three days ago, winds of up to 90 mph hit our area as they carried in this massive storm. Utah had only a couple of small snow storms until today. It was our winter without snow...
Lynda Bailey, Utah had no precipitation to speak of until today. We had some thunderstorms that came and disappeared quickly...but today we had a huge snow storm that dumped 9 inches on us.
Jean, Utah and Southern California are natural deserts. I am keeping my fingers crossed that you get at least part of the huge storm that passed through here earlier today and last night.
Melissa, thanks! And I have always adored rain storms...
