Good Riddance, Sandy

My heart goes out to my neighbors in Delaware, New Jersey and New York who suffered the worst losses of Hurricane Sandy. The devastation of our eastern coastline and flooding inside the greatest city in the world has shaken us to the core. Our Pennsylvania community fared better, though my family remained in a constant state of terror as torrential rain, wind gusts of 80 mph, and sustained winds of 50 mph raged for more than twenty-four hours.

While the super storm blew, we feared that one of the eighteen oak trees on our property would fall on our house. Fortunately, that didn’t happen. (A good reminder why we keep the trees trimmed and healthy.) Since we don’t live in a flood prone area of Pennsylvania and the utility cables here are buried underground, we didn’t suffer water damage or lose power. A miracle! Our lawn is littered with debris, which will take weeks to clean up. Otherwise, we made it through Hurricane Sandy with little more than frayed nerves. Life is slowly returning to normal. I pray those who lost their homes and possessions will soon be able to say the same.

Sandy must have been terrifying for all involved. Thankfully, the government was prepared this time (unlike Katrina).

Glad you're safe, Adele. :)

I'm glad you were okay. We flooded a bit, and the three in the apt complex next to us broke our window, but we were lucky.

Love and prayers for a speedy recovery to our friends on the east coast.

My heart's been involved in Sandy, even if I wasn't. My son and family live on Long Island, so they really got hit. Haven't heard from him for two days but hope to today.

I'm so sorry for those who have suffered through Hurricane Sandy. It will take a long time before things return to normal for many.

I don't even like to think about how terrifying it all was let alone the 50 mph wind for more than twenty-four hours. I'm so glad you're okay. As so many have said, love and prayers for a speedy recovery for everyone.

I'm glad you're all right. Sandy sounded scary, and I feel for the people that were in her path.

I live on the west coast, and we only get an occasional small twister that takes someone's roof off or knocks down a barn, and of course earthquakes.

Some of the filter companies include detailed installation instructions with their filters while others provide a rating of the difficulty of the installation in literature found at auto parts stores. Fireplace mantels can be a lovely focal point in your home if properly chosen, cared for, and decorated. They have wire baskets inside to store the items. The reason they are more expensive is because the salon isn't there to sell hair dryers, they are there to do a service and that is why they can charge more for their items than other people could.
