Today I'm pleased to present an interview of romance author Anna James.
Latest Book: To Love and Trust Again
Hi I’m Anna James, author of
contemporary novels and I invite you to take a break from everyday life and get
lost in a world filled with desire, passion, and romance!
I have been writing for years and was
first published in 2010. Since then I have published eight novels / novellas.
I was born in Connecticut and lived there until I was
nine years old. My family and I spent the next eleven years living in
Williamsville, a suburb just outside of Buffalo, NY. I returned to Connecticut after receiving my associates’
degree in Engineering Science and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in
Mechanical Engineering. I continue to live in Connecticut with my husband and children.
I am a romantic at heart and enjoy
reading and writing romance novels.
Q: What’s the first thing you did when you received
word you’d sold a book?
A: Told my husband then proceeded to call my entire family. I was on the
phone for hours!
Q: What part of the book is
the hardest for you? Why?
A: Probably the love scenes and the end of the story, mostly because
those require the most details.
Q: Who is your favorite
character in your book and why?
A: In To Love and Trust Again I like
Molly. Mostly because Molly was the first character I ever developed. Although
Molly was part of the first book I ever wrote, it was my 7th story
to be published. That’s because I left it to sit for years while I went on to
write other stories.
Q: What hobby do you enjoy
when not writing?
A: I like to kayak. We have a cottage on a lake and I like going out in
the early morning when no one else is out on the water. It’s very peaceful.
Q: What genre would you like to try writing in
but haven’t yet done so? Why?
A: I think I’d like to try writing romantic sci-fi. I haven’t tried it
yet because I’m still trying to come up with a plot in my head.
Q: Facebook, MySpace, Blogs, Chats, or Twitter.
Which do you like best and why?
A: I can link all my social media to my Twitter
account so I think I like that best.

BLURB:
Three years ago Molly Quin walked out of Dan
Berringer’s apartment and told him that she wanted nothing to do with him ever
again. Now, after accepting a position with Bennett Engineering, she will
have to see Dan every day. Fate could be so cruel! Seeing him again so
unexpectedly, she discovered to her chagrin, brought back feelings she thought
she’d dealt with a long time ago.
Dan Berringer made a
mistake. He’d hurt Molly badly. He wants her back now and will stop at nothing
to win her including letting Max McDermott get in his way.
Max McDermott wants Molly
Quin. She’s smart, funny and sexy as hell, but he is
reluctant to pursue her. He knows Molly is attracted to him too but what about
her relationship with Dan Berringer? And is he willing to become involved with
someone he works with again?
Follow
Molly on her journey as she deals with hurts from the past and her feelings in
the present and learns how to love and trust again.
EXCERPT:
Molly walked along the corridor to a row of elevators and stepped inside an open car. A glance at her watch confirmed that it was almost eight-thirty. Still there was no one else on the elevator with her as the doors closed.
When she’d inquired at the front desk the Receptionist had told her that Tony Camilari, her boss, would meet her in his office so she pressed the button for the eleventh floor. As the car moved upwards, Molly tried to recall the names of some of the people she’d met during her final interview. She was so deep in thought she was startled when the elevator stopped on the seventh floor and the doors opened. Looking up, her eyes collided with a pair of the most irresistible brown eyes she had ever seen. She just stared as their owner made his way onto the elevator. Sucking in a deep audible breath she tried to regain her composure. Get a hold of yourself, she ordered, and stop gawking at him for goodness sakes.
He gave her a curt nod of acknowledgment as he stepped in and pressed the button for the ninth floor. Molly returned the greeting with a nervous smile, turned to the side and studied him surreptitiously through hooded lashes.
He had to be about six feet tall, she guessed, with short dark wavy hair. He was athletically built with broad shoulders, lean narrow hips and a handsome face. But those eyes… They were devastating. They were large, doe shaped, with deep brown centers and eyelashes to die for. If he were female he would never have to wear mascara in his life, she thought absurdly.
The complete package was having the most devastating effect on her senses. Dan affected her the same way when she had first met him. And look at the heartache that brought you, a little voice taunted from inside her head.
The elevator doors opened and the man stepped out. Molly breathed a deep sigh of relief as the doors closed and the elevator continued its way to the eleventh floor.
Three and a half hours later she was sitting at her desk reading through some files when a familiar voice drawled, “Hello Molly, you're looking well today.”
She knew before she even turned around it was Dan. How can hearing his voice again after all this time still cause my stomach to churn like this?
Placing the documents on the desk in front of her, she schooled her expression into one of indifference and slowly turned around to face him. “Hello Dan,” she responded coolly.
Dan’s eyes roamed over her body in blatant sexual appraisal and Molly cringed inwardly.
“For you,” he said and handed her a single red rose.
Her eyes widened in shocked surprise. “Thank you,” she murmured. She was taken aback by the sweet gesture and smiled.
“We’ll have lunch today. Get your things and we’ll go.”

Anna - Sounds like your career is definitely on the way up, and that you have found a great balance between the demands of a technical job and a writer's imagination. Congratulations and best of luck!
