Waving Madly Hello!

Hello one an all. I'm new here. Well, not here as in the internet or even to blogging, but new in the sense that I'm now a monthly blogger. Yep, Romance Books R Us gave me the keys to the kingdom, set me loose and allowed me to run free. (Silly, silly them.)

This is my first official post as a "member author" on RBRU. I couldn't be more thrilled. I'm in amazing company. Thank you to Marianne, our fearless leader, who sent me the email. (Seriously, she must have had one to many margaritas the night she extended the invitation or she was desperate, very very desperate. *vbg*) I promised her I'd behave. (*Fingers crossed behind my back*)

For those of you who don't know me, I write sexy romantic suspense under the name Nina Pierce, sexy paranormal shifters and vampires under the name Nina Pierce, sexy futuristic and sci fi romance under the name Nina Pierce, and hot contemporary erotic romance under ... you guessed it, Nina Pierce. Point is, I'm an eclectic genre kind of gal. But two things remain consistent in my stories, they're pretty sexy and they're always a romance. Yep, the girl always gets her guy in my stories.

People sometimes ask why I don't use different pen names for the different genres. I've tried. I have the schizophrenia to prove it. There was a short period of time when I actually maintained two websites, three MySpace profiles (remember MySpace?), blogged under two names and actually attended a writing convention as three different people. Oh, that sooooo didn't work!

Truth is, I think readers today are savvy. They can distinguish an historical from a futuristic, a medical thriller from a sweet inspirational, and a vampire from a cowboy, even if the same author's name is on all of the covers. I maintain that readers know what they like. Sometimes it's an author's voice, sometimes it's the genre. Either way, they don't need me to wear different hats to keep things separate.

Ooookay, before you jump on me, I do think there is one exception, if an author writes inspirational or YA and erotic romance, they very likely will keep those genres on opposite ends of the internet. I'm totally not disagreeing with you there.

Other than that, I don't see a reason for authors to try to market themselves under different pen names. What about you? Do you prefer they keep everything neatly categorized under pen names or does it matter to you? Because I'm always curious about stuff like that.

** I'm feeling particularly frisky this weekend. How about a set of my romance trading cards for one lucky person chosen at random from the commenters on this post? I'll even hold the giveaway open until Wednesday, October 12 ***

You can check out my newest releases on my website. And because I'm a needy kind of gal, I'd love to have you follow me on Facebook and Twitter.

Welcome, Nina! I'm so happy that you've joined us. I've pretty much come to the same conclusion you have when it comes to pen names. Great to see you here:)

Tina - Thanks for the welcome. Some day I'm going to make book trailers again. Damn Microsoft for leaving the program off my new computer.

Paris - thanks for the welcome. Seriously, multiple pen names means multiple marketing. Who has time for that?

So glad to see your here! I agree with keeping the same name in different genres. Works for me, but then I might be just too lazy to switch around..Wish you were still making videos for others, yours are so good..
