There's no need for this in the modern world. Stores keep their lights on all night now anyways (at least where I live in the USA), so no power is being saved, especially with the advent of automatic timers, etc. I really think we should abandon it.Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03881206406593944627noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5742415355016995707.post-17577957376594638202015-03-11T18:55:44.781-04:002015-03-11T18:55:44.781-04:00I went to Ohio University. They close down the whole main street to party outside for Halloween. Back in the day when kids had to work their families farms to help their parents maintain profits, DST was extremely important, allowing kids to get more work done in the fields before and after school. Not much of that goes on now...but as someone who lives on a farm, DST is great during Spring, Summer and Fall months. In winter, it sucks as there seems to be hardly any daylight hours. For this, people tend to get depressed in those winter months.

I'm neither for or against. I'm Switzerland :-)
Renee Vincenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01911632561277496224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5742415355016995707.post-80301663359521238392015-03-10T10:02:04.834-04:002015-03-10T10:02:04.834-04:00How interesting. Also, the terrorist bomb in Israel was very interesting. For the record I HATE DST. I HATE changing time and don't understand why we have to do it. Love it!! ;)
I had no idea about the "War Time" thing - as a born/raised Iowan, I always assumed the farmers were to blame...
My favorite quote about DST is from the Native Americans: Only the government would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it to the bottom, and have a longer blanket...
