Holiday Do-Over

2016 has been a rough year. Given the choice, there are a lot of things I'd do differently. On the other hand though there are also things that happened this year that I'd be powerless to change, even if I did get to relive the last 12 months. This year, I've lost loved ones and friends, had other loved ones make close calls, and spent way too much money on lawyers, not to mention way too little time writing. However, there isn't much point in wishing for a do-over. One way or another, we only get a one-way ticket, in this life, in this plane of existence, at least, depending on your beliefs. All I can do is hope next yer will be a better one and try not to make the same mistakes. Mostly, I need to get writing again.

The publishing industry has be a difficult dragon to wrestle this year. Ellora's Cave, at one time my primary publisher, is in the process of closing down, and yes, as many authors have said, we didn't really get paid this last year. However, I did manage to get some of my rights back a while ago. (The rest will revert on Jan. 1, 2017) That means, some of my books, DO have the chance for a literary do-over. A few, like Beltane Lion, which I re-released last month, have had major face--lifts. My writing is simply better now than when I originally published it. Others, I've chosen to leave mostly alone, as is the case with Whispers of Magic, part of a trilogy I wrote with two of my dear friends and favorite authors, Desiree Holt and Regina Carlysle. It's one of my steamier works, but I think it still holds up as a story. If you're reading all three, mine is the last, with the final wrap-up.

I hope this holiday season is the best it can be for each and every one of you, however you celebrate, and whichever holiday you celebrate. I know this time of year can be hard for many people, and if you need someone to talk to, someone who's been there and won't judge, shoot me a note on Facebook or email. I'm happy to be there to help. Whatever you do, be kind, to yourself as well as others, and may 2017 bring a little more light to us all.

Whispers of Magic:

Jenna Woodward has lost her parents, her job, and her cheating “fiancĂ©” but she does have a book deal--if she can get the subject of her most famous photograph to agree. Rancher Mitch Sterling doesn’t want his face on a book, but he does want Jenna back in his life. He offers a deal—he’ll sign off, if she agrees to be at his mercy for one whole day. Jenna left him once because she was afraid of his taste for dominance. Now Mitch has twenty-four hours of passion to convince her that she can handle him—and his love. Find it at Kindle, or Kindle Unlimited.

I'm glad to see you around again. There's always so many parts of life where it would be great to have a do over, but we aren't able to do it. At least we can look forward to a wonderful 2017!

I hope 2017 is a better year for you. As much as I'd like to do-over many things, maybe I wouldn't have the life I do--which for the most part is pretty darn good. Happy New Year.
