Guest Blog: Cathryn Cade: Fulfilling Dreams...One Vine at a Time

Hi, I’m Cathryn Cade. When I was a girl, my family had no TV. I think my stepfather was afraid he might have to listen to something besides his beloved opera in the evenings. And yes, that was just as much fun for us kids as you are imagining.

That left one escape for this girl. Books! I learned to love reading, cozy in the bedroom I shared with my sister, door closed and probably a pillow over my head to drown out the mezzo soprano warbling in the living room.

One of my favorite stories was the abridged version of Tarzan by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Here’s the 60’s cover. Is that not awesome-sauce? Tarzan’s knuckles aren’t even white from hanging onto that vine, and he looks so relaxed as he flies through the air. (Y’know, I think this same artist must have painted some of the early Harlequin romance covers. Put a suit on Big T and there you have The Masterful Executive).

But, back to my childhood fantasies. Tarzan had a great life. He got to live in a huge tree house, never had to brush his teeth, and swung through the primeval forest on vines. How cool was that to a little cowgirl from the prairies of Montana? Pretty darn cool. I’d never seen a real vine, and wasn’t real clear on how they came to be hanging from those trees, but I wanted to be Tarzan’s Jane, I knew that.

So, when I grew up and became a real author, I finally saw my chance.

BIO:
In real life, Cathryn Cade is an elementary school librarian–a lovely job, if she must work. She’s married to her sweetheart, has two tall, extremely handsome sons and a golden retriever. She loves quilting, golf, boating and shopping.

In her secret life, she drives a sleek space cruiser–often pursued by dangerous men in extremely well-fitted space uniforms, who want to unzip her flimsy, extremely well-fitted space uniform and perform sensual acts in their shifted state, as half-hunting cat or even half-dragon. To take her place, read her books.

BLURB:
Hawaiian Heroes III; Blooming in the Wild debuted November 6th @ Samhain Publishing.

Meet Bella Moran Ho’omalu, half-Hawaiian/half-Caucasian girl sporting goods executive from Oregon. Visiting Hawaii for her best friend’s wedding, she learns that not only is her father, whom she just met, a member of a wealthy, mysterious Hawaiian family—he’s also bequeathed her special powers. Powers that come alive, now that Bella is on the island home of Pele, goddess of Hawaii’s volcanoes.

In the remote Hawaiian forest on a photo shoot that includes sexy TV survival star Joel Moran, Bella begins to experience the eerie awakening of powers that link her to the trees and plants of the forest. They answer her summons, and they whisper to her of danger. But even in the midst of peril caused by vicious drug smugglers we need a little humor, right? And we definitely need some fantasy fulfillment.

There’s danger in paradise, kiddies. But not to worry, Tarzan, erm, I mean our Hawaiian heroine is here to save the day. And do read the product warning, because this ain’t the abridged version!

Product Warnings
