Thrill of a Lifetime (So Far, Anyway!)

You may have heard there was a convention held in Chicago last week?  I was able to go up on Saturday to the Giant Book Signing, and was able to meet some very fascinating people:)  And I've posted pictures not on my personal blog or Kenzie's (yet), so even if you've seen the first few pics, keep scrolling!

Author Bronwyn Green.  Bron and I 'met' while I was attending my very first chat on one of the loops, and I think we 'talked' long past the designated time slot!  She was very helpful and encouraging as I was new to the e-pubb thing and was in the process of writing my first erotic novel.  The lovely lady to the right is my good friend and fellow author, BC Brown.

Author Desiree Holt.  A personal 'OMG!' moment, when I introduced myself and her eyes lit up!  Me; she recognized MY name!  (Okay; it was Kenzie's....she'd read and enjoyed Wild At Heart!)

Author and 'promotion guru' Marcia James:)

Author Brynn Paulin.  I also 'met' Brynn on that very first chat, and fell in love with her Cress Brothers:)  She's always there when I've needed advice while writing:)

Cindy Spencer Pape had a prior commitment by the time I arrived at her table, but hey, at least I took a picture of where she would have been!  Blame Chicago traffic...or the fact we stopped for breakfast....or the fact BC didn't get off work until 7am.....:)

This is the guy who yelled at me when I didn't 'obey the rules' and leave after paying for my books.  No, I had the audacity to head back toward the tables!  He let me go after I explained I wanted a picture of one of the T-shirts:)

And if you can't meet one of your favorite authors, you can at least get your picture taken by their poster.....

....or sit in their chair!  No, that's not Charlaine Harris, lol!

Do you think I have enough reading material for a while?

The Sue Grafton book is for my mom.  I'd hoped to be able to meet Sue, but her line was waaayy too long. So I had to settle for a signed book, instead of a personalized one.

BC and I are hoping to be able to drive out when RT comes to Kansas City next year, and depending on my daughter's health at the beginning of June, we might drive to Cincinnati and attend the signing during Lori Foster's event.  So hope to see you at one or both!

PS:  Marianne, you were gone by the time I got to your row (pout!).

Sounds and looks like you had a wonderful time, Babs. I've never been to an event of that magnitude. This weekend I'm going to my first Missouri Writer's Guild. Plenty of authors outside the romance genre which will be new for me. Happy writing!

@Tina: Next year, we hope to drive over Friday night, if we can't attend the entire thing:)

@Polly: Enjoy!

@Jean: I posted more author pics on Kenzie's blog; just click on her name in the post and scroll down.

Janice: I only wish we'd gotten there sooner...or taken one of those rolling suitcases. Then we would have started at Row 11 and met Marianne and Cindy. We began at the back, thinking it would be easier to carry all those books to the check-out stand! Thank god I'd taken that backpack, and watched the amount of books I was snatching up:)

@Cari: Thanks:) If you're within driving distance of Kansas City, or wherever it's held in the following years, I encourage you to at least go on Sat; it's only $5.....plus however many books you can buy!

@Paris: We really enjoyed ourselves! Did you see my 'out takes' and what we did afterward? Really enjoyed the day.

@Renee: I love seeing pics from these events, so tried to get a good 'mix' for everyone:)
