Remember This Rhyme?

Mommy, Mommy, please tell me
What kind of person will I be?

My mother was a high school nurse, and I loved her office. I used to practice 'medicine' on my dolls, until I grew older and realized there was a great deal of 'icky' stuff I'd have to learn.

Me, a nurse? NO WAY!

Rich man, poor man
Beggerman, thief...

Rich sounded nice. The rest, not so much! Unfortunately, I proved to be good with kids, and decided to pursue some sort of career in that area. Being a Teacher's Aid showed me I'm no teacher, and then I decided my life's ambition would be to save every abused child in the world. A noble dream, but it proved tough to do.

Doctor, lawyer,
Indian Chief!

Forget the medical; I had no desire to pursue it. Lawyer? Nah; I couldn't think fast enough on my feet. My sister was more suited to that; she could argue her way out of anything. I was more about avoiding confrontation. And since I'm not Native American, the last one's a no-brainer.

If I absolutely had no talent in the writing area, I would probably own a bookstore or be a librarian. Dream job=surrounded by books I've loved since age six and future books I've not read yet. I've had a taste of owning my own business; I ran a concession stand for two years and more recently was assistant manager of a fireworks store and 'Head Volunteer' at two friends' bookstore.  So if money was no object, I believe I'd go for it. (Unfortunately, our town did not support the store, and it closed after six months.)

Now I just need that rich man to come back...I let him go back in 1989 when his business picked up and had no spare time in his schedule anymore...guess it wasn't meant to be!

So who am I kidding? I've been writing since age 11; if I don't get a chance to write down my thoughts and stories, the minute I'm able to put pen to paper, the words flow like a water through a breach in the dam.

Good News!
The new logo for my Arbor University series was designed by a good friend of mine on Tuesday:

And here is the new cover for Love On The Rocks, formally known as Love Is Sober:

Isn't it a beauty?  It's due to be released sometime in October.  So more on it probably next month or so.

So what would YOU be if you couldn't write?

I'm with you...I'd love to own a bookstore. I want to be surrounded by books. Though I'd like to be a private investigator too. :)

Great logo and cover. Congrats.

I'm with Amber, whatever I'd do I know that I'm happiest when surrounded by books so owning a bookstore would be fun and rewarding. On the other hand, that private investigator thing sounds like fun! Congrats on the beautiful new cover and I like the title!

Congrats on your new release, Molly - awesome cover! Know what you mean about loving books. The library was my favorite place when I was a kid. I was a real nerd and proud of it. :)

LOL:) My 2nd grade teacher recognized I was reading above my level, so she let me go to the 'big kids' library and check out biographies on her card:) And then 3rd grade teacher made my go back to the 'little kids' library...thankfully, my mom was a Brownie leader, so once a week after school, I'd pop down to the other library and read during clean-up:) Mom always knew where to find me, lol!

@Amber and Paris: I've read too many PI books; be my luck I'd get caught...although, I DID snoop through my sister's stuff and she never found out...I could ALWAYS tell when she'd been in my room!

I can still clearly see in my mind's eye all the details of the local library where I grew up.
My older sisters helped me check out books from the adult section. I'm so glad they did that for me.
Congratulations on the new title and book cover!

Don't know what I've have done without the local library from the time I was six on... Definitely formed my reading interested and fixed me as a life-long lover of all things books. Great new cover and title.

Love the rhymes, too.

@Kat: Isn't that funny? So can I:)

@Harlie: I don't know if that rhyme really begins with 'Mommy', but I remember the rest from childhood! And since I'm hoping my series has found a 'home', there won't be any more issues with logo copyright:)

@Jean: Thank you:) I loved the 'visual pun' of another cover (couple shown on a rocky beach), but it was pointed out some readers wouldn't 'get' it. I didn't want any angry letter ala 'Hey, there's no beach in this book!'

I've already "been" something before writing. Taught school and loved teaching the K-2nd grade the best.
Now, I don't think I have the stamina to do that...just babysitting grandkids makes me tired!

I love books too. I wouldn't mind being a librarian, I think I could do that.

My dream though was to be a artist. I've won some awards too. I have taken a lot of classes over the years and even did wood crafts for a while too.

But my hands messed up. I got tendinitis so I turned to writing. I found I can still type.

@Marianne: LOL:) My mom likes to teach the 3rd graders in Sunday School:)

@Janice: I can't draw a straight line, even WITH a ruler! I am pretty good at painting the trim inside the house; knocked off some of the rent back in 1990 when the landlord painted my apartment and I helped him. I stood on the ladder and painted the top of the walls, where the roller didn't reach. Took us all day, and he told me to only pay half that month. Had a blast helping him out!
