Signs of Spring

Well, it's springtime in Michigan. The robins are back. The Canada geese are chasing people away from ponds and lakes, and the vultures are lurking in the trees. Vultures? Yep. One of the major signs of spring thaw. They can't eat when the carrion is frozen stiff, so they're one of our biggest migratory birds. Personally, as signs of spring go, I tend to prefer the lonely purple crocuses popping up in my front flowerbed, or the warm, sunny, 60 degree days. Now that I have my office space in our new window-lined family room, I get jazzed on sunny days.

This spring, big things are happening for me and my writing. Valentine's Heart received 4 stars from Romantic Times Book Reviews. Steam & Sorcery just got 5 stars from Night Owl Reviews. And Joyfully Reviewed Joyfully Recommended Motor City Witch. I just signed a contract for Midsummer Dreams, book 4 of my Holiday Hearts series, and just finished edits on the third Urban Arcana book, Motor City Werewolf. I'm working on revisions for a new publisher with my agent, and she has another book out on submission. Meanwhile, I'm working away on a Christmas steampunk novella. April 25, my free steampunk novella, Photographs & Phantoms comes out from Carina Press. (available now for preorder. And did I mention, FREE!) Whew.

Spring revitalizes my spirit and gets me moving, mentally, and physically. It's when I like to get out and walk, after hunkering inside all winter. And soon it will be summer, and the lake nearby will beckon for the occasional swim.

So happy spring to everyone. I'd love for you to leave me a note about what spring means to you. I'll give a free copy of Like Bunnies to one random commenter. And if you want a little something to get you in the mood, there's always my Spring Solstice Holiday Hearts story, Like Bunnies, which came out last year from Ellora's Cave. :-)  Click here for a little more about that.

Oh, and here's a cooool trailer for Steampunk week, coming the end of this month at Carina Press.

Fabulous news, Cindy! Your life sounds pretty exciting right now. I'd forgotten about the vultures but I have to agree that I prefer my daffodils and tulips as heralds of spring around here:)

Whew, Cindy I need a nap after reading that post. ;) Best of luck with everything you have in the works.

As far as seasons go, spring is in the running, but summer with it's warm days and late evenings is by far my favorite!

Congrats on all your great news! That's awesome!

For me, I love the spring because it brings warmer days, spring rain showers (that make mud puddles to jump in), new flowers popping up in the yard, and my birthday. ;o)

Congrats again and keep up the great work!

You are one busy lady:)

Spring used to mean the spouse returning to work and baseball season. But now it just means warm weather approaching and the fact I'd better get my promo items together for the craft fair season:)

Congrats, Cindy!
I'm in NY and it's warmer, but gray and rainy. I'm laying money that we'll go straight from winter to summer here. Enjoy the change in seasons in Michigan!
